Hello everyone! anyone know whats the general range you can bargain off MSRP of a new-old stock Infiniti fx50s? its a 2011. Any tips are greatly appreciated! :smile (2):

I think KBB i incorrect with FXs...I bought mine about $10,000 under KBB value at average and mine was from an Infiniti dealer in mint condition with all bells and whistles. I like KBB a lot, but in my experience with FXs it's wayyyy off.

Yeah KBB is wrong. Alot of the options aren't even listed on there too.

A dealership near me has a 2011 FX50 with 5K miles with the sport package and dvd package but no tech package for $56K.

One thing you have to remember is that these rides hold their value well. If your wanting a 2011 FX50 it's going to run you well over $50K for a used one. If your wanting one in the $40K-$45K mark you need to look at 2009-2010 models. Your not really going to get that much money off.

oh i expect to hit the 50+ range, however, i just wanted to see if i could get the car slightly in the lower 50's range...it is a year old model....with everything! ( except the color...i wanted white, but its plat silver), 5 miles on ODO

One thing I've learned is that if you can't get no money off try and push them into throwing in some free accessories like illuminated kick plates, front lip kit, tints, clear bra, maintenance plan, etc etc

Thanks Fire, but still, i rather have a lower price to have lower payments.... wifey wont let me get the car if its over a certain amount / month...and the best way to curb that is lower sell price and then tack on a small down payment.... my lease is about to end on my 335 coupe ( only drove 20K miles... ), looking to buy and not lease again...

Don't be afraid to go well under Inovoice. If the car has sat there for awhile, they will throw everything, including the kitchen sink to get rid of it. I would start $2k under invoice or around $48,900. There is 1.5% dealer holdback, MFG incentives, rebates to the dealer and not to mention the dealer floor plan ran out(interest $ dealer pays to the MFG).

thanks mpohio, buying a current new car i understand...just wanted to see if anyone knew any secrets in negotiating on a old stock/new car (2011 model). seems like your truecar estimate 13% off msrp, which would bring the car to about 56K...

I purchased a leftover 2011 FX35 in November. Sticker was $53300 and I paid $45300.

They'll want to move it, so I'd think $8000 to $9000 off sticker is absolutely reasonable.

It's the same pretty much as buying a new car, except they are more eager to move it. $50k ish racks up some serious interest due to the mfg in a heartbeat. You can do a search of other infiniti dealers and check their website to see if they have any in stock to compare. I used google map and typed in Infiniti dealer then clicked on each on the map. They will usually have "old" new stock in the Managers special area as they want them gone. Plus once you bring competition into the equation, all prices go down!!

Good luck and keep us posted.

afterthought, you might want to call their fleet or internet department as they are paid less than a salesman and are use to wholesaling vehicles.

A friend of mine bought a 2009 335i coupe (22miles) used that was initially going for 32k, we basically told them if we dont buy one today from you were going to try 3 other dealerships. We even showed them the down money 10k cash. 25mins later the used sales manager came over and said ill give you the car for 30k. I told him we want 28k or no sale. We heard a 10min long story how its not possible. I told him well such and such dealer is offering me the price i want, with 5k over the odometer ill guess will go there. As we get up we look at the car one more time, i asked the used sales man. you cant help us drive out of the lot today, he finally said ok 28.5k.
We got the car from that dealer that same day..

Plus.. it's the end of the month. Need to get those numbers up and get the cars off the lot.

While it is always more than possible to play hardball and get the best possible price from a dealer, if you plan on keeping an ongoing relationship with them either through service or future purchases it may be best to meet them in the middle. I am all for maximizing my savings, but I also know that they need to turn a small profit once in a while.

Not criticizing anyone's tactic. Just giving my two cents on my methods.

the best time imo to buy a new car used car is end up the year around dec20-23, 27-30

I agree because when i bought my FX with my dad, my dad became friends with the used sales manager (he marked 6k off the orig price). Everytime we went to the dealer for service my dad always pulled him out to help us with service work. We even got a fx for a loaner once :).

But sometimes when you buy a car its a official contract, its pretty hard to amend therefore you hardly see the guy who sold you the car or whoever helped you out through the sale. My point is when you take ur car to service you meet the service staff not the sale staff, so you hardly come into contact. So sometimes roughening up and using aggressive tactics helps. I rather get a good deal and not deal with dealership anymore and find a new dealership for future service work.

With the 2013 FXs coming out in July, I think you could get a hell of a deal on a '11 FX50S.

BTW use Edmund's to get more accurate pricing. KBB and NADA are notorious for being too high.

kinda late to have an '11 still sitting on the lot brand new dont you think? unless theyre calling it used with ~5miles on it...

Ah young Jedi you have much to learn. Just kidding, as to each his own. But most of these salepeople are trained to lie, cheat and steal. Seriously, I would know as I was in the business for over a decade and a new car sales manager. We hold no grudges unless you are rude or vulgar. Negotiating is expected and the natural course of car buying ;)

Yes, be polite and cordial, but be firm on your price. Unless your a Total A-hole, they will hold no grudges. Actually, when I sold cars, I would I was impressed with people who came "armed" and informed. I wasn't happy at first, but that feeling goes away in an hour or so. Service has no idea what you paid for your car so your negotiation skills / tactics have no bearing on your relationship with service. Plus damn near every service department hates the sales staff. They end up having to clean up all the salespeopls over promises.

Basically, they are trying to bend you over and get the most they can, I have no love lost when I score a smoking deal. Sorry, but I work too hard for my money to just hand it over to them.

If a dealer sells a new car at invoice, they are still making over $2,000 and depending on the model, up to $4,000. That money is there for the taking so don't hesitate to ask. The member above with the BMW did it the correct way. Always bring competition into the equation and let them know you are "willing and able" to buy a car.
