hello,im asking this question because i'm traveling from country to another country so i have like 1500 miles to drive and,my gas gage is not working so,how many miles can you drive with no cruise controll??thanks.

I dont know what year Fx you have, but on my 07 it tells me my mpg and how many gallons left till empty on the in dash screen. Usually driving normal you can get almost 300 miles per tank.

All depends on how you drive and the conditions you are driving on (flat roads or hilly roads) makes a BIG difference. But even if your gauge is not working properly you can get a good estimate by going off the computer trip counter where once its reset it will tell you approximately how many miles till empty and it will change with the road conditions and driving habits.

I get 280-300 city, 400-500 highway. Depends alot on the conditions you are driving in though, like Doc said, so I would stay on the safe side if you are going to assume mileage.

thanls for replying fast which me luck i'm traveling after like 4 hours some hope everything go well and i'll stick with your'e idea DR.2K reset the trip and, when i drive 270 miles stop full it up and drive back lol

maybe i'll keep a 20 litre of gas in my truck just for emergency lol thanks again for all answers

Having the spare gas would be good. Then you can actually see how far you go before the gas runs out and it will be much easier to judge when to fill up.

On my FX45 I was getting approx. 16.4 mpg avg. for every fill up with 80% highway and 20% city driving. So I would avg about 260 miles (+/- 20 miles) for every fill up. But I do drive hilly terrain on my commutes.

Edit....and a average speed of 65-70mph. I usually just set my cruise at 70mph.

On my 35 I get approx 22-24mpg on the freeway crusing at 80mph. So to be safe I would say 400 miles to the tank.

On a 45, i think they get about 18-20mpg on the freeway cruising at 80mph. So to be safe 360 - 380 miles to the tank.

That's all freeway though...take out 20-40 miles if your doing street driving. This should keep you in the safe no run out of gas range.

Yeah the solution is very simple... fill the gas tank until the pump stops, then drive 250-300 miles and fill up again. However much gas it takes to fill it back to where the pump stops is very close to the amount of gas you burned in those 250-300 miles. Take whatever your trip odometer is reading and divide by gallons/liters of gas you filled up with to get your fuel economy.

The FX has a 23 gallon tank if I'm not mistaken... but it tries to make you think you're empty around 20-21 gallons.

Ya, I don't think I've ever filled up with more than 20 gallons. And I'm pretty sure i've seen my needle actually below the E line. Sneaky bastard making me think I'm out of gas.

I was able to squeeze 350+ miles without the gas light coming on. This was all highway cruising at 75 (no cruise control) with short bursts to 80/90 to pass.

I chickened out and got around 17.1 gallons of petrol on the next fill up. Someday I'll run her past the point of no return a la Cosmo Kramer.
