Hey guys heading up to the moutain and wondering if one set of snow chains is good enough. For AWD should i put them on the front or back? I thought i read that the car is only in AWD during the first 12mph or something. Also what are the best snowchains without breakin the bank?

Get a good set of blizzaks instead and you should have an AWD lock button.

Sent from my SM-N920V

I live in the Mountains and I have a set of z cables that I bought 8 years ago because you have to carry them even if you are AWD. They are still brand new never had a need to use them and I've plowed through 2 to 3 feet of snow with Yokohama Geolander AT/S tires.

I bought a set of Z Cables as MTN FX said they are the best. Never used them in 4 years. They're still in original package unopened. Who needs chains in SO CAL?? 22's year round on RWD.

I have Hankook IPikes on my car, I also have a Chevrolet 2500 4x4 and though we don't get to much snow here last year we got allot. My fx ran circles around my truck! There is no reason what so ever you should need any chains or cables, unless of course you want to pull someone out of a ditch or something!Dont waste your money, the Fx is well at home in the snow.

unless you're climbing Mt. Everest with the FX you really don't need the chains

I drive 6 months out of the year in snow and ice and I never once needed the chains. FX can take it all with a good set of winter tires. It's not the best AWD system out there but it's pretty decent

Well i planned on heading to the mountain to snowboard and its required snow chains or studded tires. Dont waant to drop 400$ to go a few times

Oh I see what you mean. Your FX doesn't see snow during winter months, except during for snowboard trips. You don't want to invest in snow tires as you only go boarding a few times a year. For tire chains, they are about $100 for a pair. You can't/won't be able to drive fast with them on, so I believe you can get away with just buying a set for the rear tires.
