How I got here

Just a little background on how I ended up on this site. On December 11th I was on my way to work, it was 0 degrees and the radio stations were giving black ice warnings. I was heading north on a small bridge near my office, going 30 mph in a 35 zone. Some genius heading south hit the bridge at 55 mph, immediately spun out and slammed right into me. All I saw was was a tan flash off to my left and then immediate excruciating pain. My left foot was smashed and trapped under my drivers door, my tibia was broke and my hip shattered. It took them 30 minutes to get me out with the jaws of life. I was in the hospital doped up for one week before they could do surgery. I am now bed ridden and recovery will take 9 months! It sucks but at least I will be recovering during the winter.

After researching a few other vehicles, A3 S Line, Range Rover, X5 and the FX series it was an easy decision to go FX! I am hoping to get an FX 45 when I am able to drive which will hopefully be July or August. This forum is freakin amazing, so much awesome information and most important great people. I have been on other car forums and motorcycle forums but usually end up leaving due to immature bickering, stupid posts and unorgaized forums. I cannot wait to get my vehicle, start modding and posting up.

I am very happy to be alive, it could have been much worse. No head trauma, spine injury or organ damage, well a small spleen laceration. Even though it will be a slow recovery it should be a full one. One funny thing is the passenger air bag went off but not the drivers.

Wow! Have to say that is one serious collision. Good to hear you will have a full recovery albeit a lengthy one. I see no side airbags from the pictures? Get well soon and hope you find the 45 you are looking for.

Thanks everyone. No side airbags, the car was a '94. I'm doing well and I am ahead of schedule in my physical therapy. I can walk about 100 feet with a walker and sit in a wheel for a few hours. I can't do steps or put any weight on my left leg for another 8 to 12 weeks though. I thank the quick recovery and progress for all my hard hours in the gym training muay thai, jiu jitsu and mma.
