How hard is it to remove and install an exhaust?

The key to breaking bolts is impact, not how hard you push. Your force is much stronger when you hit the end of the wrench than if you just push on it. Helps if you can't fit a long breaker bar.

you statement is valid and applies when tightening a nut on a bolt not loosening.

I would suggest an overnight pb soak and pick yourself up a small propane torch for removal. I've seen exhaust bolts snap/twist heads right off with an impact or forcing with a hammer. A hot bolt will come out with ease if it's stubborn. This is a very common issue with the continuous cycle of heating and cooling an exhaust goes through

If it comes with new bolts I wouldn't worry about snapping the old ones off. When I did my y-pipe they broke luckily the new one came with bolts and gaskets.

You need to use impact on a nut, especially when there is noticeable rust. When you have a rusted nut on a bolt, best way is to use a impact wrench to loosen it. Also the torque from an impact is applied equally around the diameter of the bolt/nut. A breaker bar usually applies more torque to one side of the fastener if not kept completely square. I've broke countless bolts by hand, but only a few with an impact.
Best way to avoid any unnecessary headaches use a torch

So when you torque bolts down you just smack the torque wrench? Seems like a grand idea.

Like I said, to break a bolt loose, you can push all day but a solid smack can generate more force and help to get it loosened initially.

never, unless your dealing with a high grade suspension bolt (e.g. strut bolt that connecta to the hub). If you tighten the nut on a rusted exhaust bolt with an impact wrench it will break the bolt

Can anyone tell me if its normal for water to be dripping out of the exhaust at the flange area when the Y pipe and mid pipe connect together? I see water dripping around the gasket. It's already pretty tight and the bolts were really tight.

I would think that if water is getting out then so is air. Sounds like a leak to me.

How more tight should I make it? I was thinking about tightening it with my break bar but its already pretty tight. I'm not sure what else to do.

I don't wanna strip the new bolts

I believe they also sell a liquid sealant you can apply to the flange. Not sure how effective it is though.

Loosen it and re adjust the gasket in there, it might not have sat in properly.
