so I have to went a bit coz I'm kind of clueless of what to do; I'm hoping that the amount of intelligence on this forum will help me to solve this mystery..

;)

it started about 6 months ago... a sound of "unbalanced wheels" whiel I was driving after swapping rear rotor [for performance e-line] changing braking pads and doing some other min0r changes.

I thought that perhaps I have lost the balancing weight on the wheel and got my wheels balanced - it didn't help. the sound of something vibrating [@variable speed depending on the wheel speed kept on continuing].
After a month I have decided to balance my wheels @ a different place. also with the same result.

I have to add that so far:

i have balance my wheels three times [and I have personally checked they are "0" ;)
the wheels are aftermarket verde kaos 20", so I cannot use my nissan guard warranty [dealer said that it will not cover the issue that may relate to drivetrain as these are not stock wheels geez]
I have checked all of the brake pads [evenly wearing]; replaced rear pads [just in case - front were barely used lol]

This occurs while driving at every speed [the vibration accelerates along with fx lol] and slowly the resonance translates onto my interior lol.
I have tried switching to neutral while driving to exclude any issue pertaining to the engine or transmission - it still vibrates the same way ;(
I have also tried to lift each wheel and check if the wheel is loose - [I hope it was a bearing] and nothing.

what can be the cause of this mystery?:)
aftermarket wheels were not vibrating initially once they were purchased.
front performance rotors are cross-drilled and slotted - I'm ready to replace them, but the issue is not really pertaining to the braking. calipers are clean of marks that would allow me to think that the rotors are scratching them..

I'm in a puzzle. new rotors probably around $250. getting ripped of by infiniti or a local mechanic, may top that amount easily lol

hmmm
thanks for a words of wisdom :P

have you search the threads there are alot of threads pertaining to wheel vibration... my question is do you have your stocks and if so try and put those on and see if that occurs. I know that there is a fix to the vibration which requires you giving nut on the rack and pinion a quarter of turn to eliminate the problem. Being that you replaced your rotors I would check that since that is the last occurance, correct??? maybe try swapping those. if you are a do it yourselfer then there should nothing but time involved if you are going to a mechanic then.....

regretfully I have no stocks;D I know I have learned my lesson never get rid of stocks;(
I had two mechnics lookin at this and theyt said: more time required lol I guess the nut on the pinion can be my starting point...;)

where do you feel the vibration from? front or rear?

sounds like shot wheel bearings

Dracula,

excellent question - from a left driver side - I guess it is front, but now going back to the left rear rotor swap - I had to use some solid hammer to remove the old rotor - would I mess up the bearing?:)
also the wheel while lifted shouldn't bne tight as it is now - right?

thanks,
k.

are you using wheel spacers?

bleedingsujit,

no wheel spacer but I have even placed wheel centric hubs hoping that it will help
,
also it happen on all ranges of RPMs; actually it is more wheel, bearing related since I can go on neutral and still hear the sounds and I'm getting the vibration. thye vibration can be heard felt on the wheel and on the gas pedal..

after the most recent wheel balancing it got worse, but I personnel observed all 4 wheels being "0"

the tires are wearing evenly [so probably no alignment]

given all of the symptoms I'm in the puzzle lol

fx45Chicago,my bet would be bearings..

that's all goode, but I'm hearing the noise, and it is not only a stearing wheel issue; I feel it under accelarate and brake pedals, and my passqangers can hear the noise;(

i had same problem 2 months ago.i got my rims road force balanced and it went away...

isn't that used for the alignment issues?:)
would that possibly detect the bearing problems?
I just don't wanna spend any more money on the fix that will not work lol;)
how much that please costs by the way ;?:)

Good luck labor is a b*t^h, they quoted me 600 at dealer, 450 at pepboys.. ita a 4 hr job..

so perhaps a naive message - how do you know which bearing is bad?
I've tried to lift the wheel and check if it is lose..

are there any other ways to check that?:)

thanks,
k.
