Horsepower calculation

Guys, I was on another site and I found that there is a company Horsepowerfreaks (they do turbo's for e46M's) and for their calculation of WHP, they are doing the horsepower multiplied times .82

So I did this with the FX and I'm getting 229.6 as WHP.
Does this sound correct? (Both the e46m and my FX are RWD, so I figure this equation may hold true?

With RWD or FWD you will typically see 15-18% drive train loss. With AWD you will typically see 20-25% drive train loss. As StuLax said this will vary based on the dyno. A dynojet dyno is a dyno queens dream because you will typically see the highest WHP. Whereas on a mustang dyno aka "the heart breaker" you will typically see the lowest WHP. A good reference for what kind of power your car might be making can be determined by data logging the MAF sensors g/s of air.

The AT and MT will make a differane.

I was under the impression that the FX stock was about 219whp. Then again like Stu said, Dyno machines vary. You Cannot even get the same results on the same Dyno on different days, let alone two different dynos. My guess is 229 is close enough.

Dynapacks or any other "hub dyno" are the best if you want to put down the highest number possible since they take away the last part of drivetrain loss (wheels/tires), which is a pretty significant amount of rotating mass on these cars.

You can't really compare dyno numbers to each other, as even the same car on the same dyno could make more or less power that same day due to weather conditions (though there are built-in correction factors to take the weather variance out of the equation) as stated above.

The best and most reliable thing to do for your own car is make a baseline pull and then record/compare the changes after each mod or round of modifications.
