HKS EXhaust QUestion

The ypipe is short, so there is an extension that increases the length to the mid pipe.

sorry Stu, your wrong

how do you explain this...

I bought a Y-pipe from ebay awhile back (sold already to a Z guy)( and it was for a 350z) It was a direct bolt on to the then stock exhaust, I ran it for a few weeks.

so if you have a HKS you shouldn't need the extension. Only 350z exhaust conversions do.

I'm lost.

I'll buy an extension if it doesn't fit.

I think I know how parents feel when there kids dont listen

I did some research here on :iS:

Keemo has AWD, so he bought the Kakumei (RWD can use regular y-pipe) and installed to the stock exhaust.

I attempted to install the AWD Y-Pipe from Chedman and Kakumei.

It bolted up like a glove! I love the sound of it. A bit louder but a nice growl and no raspyness. It does feel smoother and quicker.

So it's confirmed that it works with a 2007 FX35 AWD.
I'll post more pix tonight of the install (PICKS NOW ON PAGE 3)...for now, back to work..

What is the stock y-pipe like? Is it smaller diameter than these aftermarket ones? Not bent well? Is there any benefit to replacing it? Did you feel or hear a change with only an aftermarket Y?

Stock y-pipe is OEM diameter of the exhaust, I forgot 2.25" diameter?

Either way, the stock y-pipe crimps really small where the Y meets and is not a smooth transition. Therefore flow is restrictive.

The one I have has a better design of flow, stays the true diameter throughout, lighter than OEM by a few lbs.

With just an aftermarket Y, you will most likely not feel or hear a difference. The difference is so small, but with a full exhaust, you might. I felt my exhaust got deeper in sound but not louder (granted I have the V8) and felt more smooth -- this could be all my imagination as well. Nonetheless, fits like a glove, has flex pieces, lighter and looks 100x better than oem.
