Okay, does anyone know of someone that can install the OEM hitch on a 2012 FX35? I'm not talking about the dealers (cause they cost $160 an hour) or Rack-n-road (which charges $120 an hour). Those rates/hour are pretty fricking ridiculous. I dont even know some VP or companies with those rates.

im not sure how hard it is to install a second gen hitch, but the first gen was a pain and took like 4 hours. Gl with your search and i feel you bud. Thats a huge chunk of money for labour. Maybe try diy if you got the tools?

When I bought my OEM hitch, I was asking around at different shops to install it. After all, it's just a hitch. Bolt it up. What's the problem? I didn't have the time to do it myself. When it came down to it, I did install it myself and am I so glad that I did. For it being "just a hitch" there is a whole lot of detailed steps in following the factory instructions. I'm rather particular when it comes to things being done the right way, so I did everything perfectly as it was supposed to be done according to Infiniti. The install took a while and I had some thinking time. I mostly thought about all the steps thatI was doing and that any random shop I would have taken it to would not have done. They would have slapped it in and considered the job done without taking the extra steps of care.
My experience is from the 1st gen and maybe the 2nd gen is different. Knowing what I know now, I would only install the OEM hitch myself or have the dealer do it. Let U-Haul or somone else install it if it's an aftermarket hitch. In that case I think it's just a hitch and bolts right up.

That's true. I have read that the install on the second gen only took two hours. Can anyone verify that? I might just do it myself then.

I know this tread is old, but I'd also like to hear any experiences with installed the OEM hitch on a Gen 2.
