High Flow Catalytic Converters

I started this whole thread for this reason - I was waiting on Jordan to give the HFCs the thumbs up and it never really came... so I decided against getting them.

Jordan - you were gonna get the oil catch after I gave it the green light - did you? No complaints (or CELs lol!)

I've been researching HFCs a bit lately and haven't heard many great things. Minimal gains, expensive, loud, raspy, illegal most of the time, etc... It seems like something to squeeze that last 1% out of a street legal race engine. Not for me.

I'll have Fast Intentions HFCs next week! The guys on the Z site swear by them. Having had Kinetix before I know what I'm getting and am pumped! Plus I got a great deal on them!

did you have any issues with your Kinetix?

whats wrong with the kinetix?

Too loud was the reason why Copper sold it if I remembered correctly and I bought it. I am probably going to sell it. I was trying to install them, but found it was a Bi*ch to do it and I don't want to pay the $120~$150 labors (I prefer that money goes to my other modds). Let me know if you guys are interested.:tongue:

on my kinetix the insides got ruined so I have to send them back for replacement...you can hear the innards rattling. It's most likely from my drifitng in snow...hot HFCS touching snow= ruined insides...

otherwise they sounded awesome!

Yeah man I definitely "felt" something after they broke in....but most likely placebo effect. They sound great especially paired with the nismo. However, my car is LOUD....like...loud lol.

...They are loud at WOT but not too bad idling or taking it easy...

...the only problem is that at low rpms at slow speeds, they seem to make a metallic-tinny noise. Not rattle, but more like something is loose. When the spring comes around I am going to get all the connections looked at to make sure there is no leak or anything, and I already emailed KINETIX (with no response) about how they are making this noise....

So this was the post that pretty much shut down the buy for me. Mostly because it was an affirmation of things that I was worried about. I heard another FX in my neighborhood that had HFCs or test pipes (not sure which) and the thing was LOUD. Sounded ok - but just not for my car. Now the rattle thing has me sure I made the right choice.

I've said in other threads that I'm going for a "balance" on the mods I make to my FX and I feel like the HFCs cross that luxury SUV line. Nothing wrong with them for sure - just doesn't quite fit in with my big picture. Add to that they have now failed on you and the fact that customer service isn't being very responsive and I'm thinking those who are interested in HFCs might want to look at other brands...

They were with my HKS...then I heard HFCs on a FX with Invidia and liked it. Plus I got a great deal on the fast intentions. Kinetix are great and have no issues. I installed them myself with the help of the Berk vid on youtube. Really isnt that bad. WD40 all bolts let set for an hour and get lots of extensions n beer:tup:

i have a question it may be not a smart one lol just need help,,, Can i put a high flow catalytic to my OEM exhaust, and would the check engine turn on? help :confused.:

1...yes you can. there might be a slight bit of rasp, so don't cheap out on these.
2...they are not supposed to but if they do, you can buy some O2 foulers from autozone.
3....they already have HFC's for 2nd gen FX's ?

well this is the thing, i did a resonator delete and i like the sound and its loud, i did not have a problem with the check engine light... but i was planing on buying a HFC that came out for my 09' but did not know the sound i will get having the resonator delete.. and the check engine light if it gos on whats the O2 foulers? is that to turn it off?

O2 foulers tricks the O2 sensors into assuming everything's normal, it will sit on the bung on the HFC and you can fit the O2 sensors on the foulers creating a distance.
I can already imagine your car with an HFC and res delete SCREAMING LIKE A MUTHAFUKA.

fitting a test pipe will bring a lot of rasp, on top of that you don't have a resonator :eek.:
HFC allow more flow of gas but the gain is not so big that I would want to brag about. As for me, I will wait until about 80k then replace the cats with an HFC.

Hi everyone,
I need some input. My OEM cats has rocking noise for a couple months. Took the FX to dealer today they agreed the noise is there ( driver's side ) but they are not going to replace it (mine has 72xxx miles) because there is no CEL or code thrown.
They said if it has an CEL before I hit 80000 then they will look at it again.

Your input in this sitsuation will be appreciated.
What shoud I do ....wait or do the HCF ( FX is running fine ).
Thank for reading this ...........Paul.

Thinking of getting HFC on my 2010 FX35 becasue my cats are making noises... drivers side.... and cats are expensive. I now havew 174K miles on my car. Not sure if i want to invest in putting new OEM cats.
