hids or jus a headlight halogen, inplace of the dtrl bulb? i know i would need to change the harness , but i would get alot of extra light out of it also? any info welcomed

the socket is a 7440 so its a wedge style. not sure if they make a HID kit for that. also the beam wont be anywhere near focused because of the weak deflector.

but you can be the first:wink:

i dunt think there is even an hid kit for wedge bulb. even if there is it will glare like crazy. Stock DTRl bulb are halogen if it'm not mistaken. LED is different brighter but they will also burn out easier in the case of DTRL.

a 9004 hid bulb is an exact fit to the hole for the dtrl, you'd need to use a dab of high temp silicone to actually hold it in or even a piece of extreme temp ductwork aluminum tape from behind can do it, cause the bulb won't actually lock in place, but it will fit the opening perfectly & seal well with the o-ring of the bulb itself.

personally I wouldn't do this on a stock headlight though for 2 reasons, 1 the high temp may start to melt some plastic, that area is not designed for that much bulb heat, 2nd & more importantly, it'll just look like a blinding bright unfocused light, don't think it will look good, more annoying & begging for a cop to screw with you if you kinda blind him... hid's are super bright, but the light needs to be harnessed & focused & directed for it to be usable, otherwise it's just a stupid bright light for no real reason...

+1 REALLY bad idea....light will not be focused at all, spreading light everywhere blinding people...and you will melt the plastic of the dtrl, the bulb would be way too close to the plastic with no ventilation....also might be REALLY bad for those wires.

and then it would be kind of interesting to see what it would look like though....

im jus tryin to get a bulb for the dtrl that will match my factory hids??? ive seen some guys jus use a orange bulb, but noone has a white bulb to match around 4300k

change your bulbs to 6000K and installe white LED's in your DTRL.

has anyone put in blue led for the DTRL?
if so, any pics?
i'm thinking that would looks pretty cool on either a black or silver fx

not blue but standard led
matches the angel eyes pretty dead on

also a good match to the 6k hids (no angels)

Yea, thanks!!
So people are putting LED's in the DTRL'S?
HID's cannot be put in there correct?
After seeing Turbo and The Merchant, I don't there's anywhere you can't put HID's. However, LED's will be a plug and play, HID's no.
