My left bulb just went out, which means my FX looks ghetto.
So I went to Wal-Mart to get an H8 bulb. They had every BULB but that one.
Soooo I went on Amazon to buy an H8 bulb and ran into THIS:

http://www.amazon.com/6000K-WHITE-L..._5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1318303147&sr=1-5

Any info on this? If not, I'll be the first to try it and if it works, I'll take pics. Then post a 2 month update.

  • Simply the brightest bulb on the market without a ballast
  • Unconditional Lifetime Replacement Warranty
  • "Plug & Play Install, Uses existing OEM wiring"
  • "100% Safe for your wiring, will not melt your wiring or damage headlight housing" like a BAWS.
Btw, these are the colors: White Laser (6000K), Blue (8500K), and Purple (12000K). I thought the 6000k was the blue color..??

That kit uses a ballasts. The one I showed is simply a bulb that is plug and play without the ballast.

It's not a true HID bulb. Just a colored halogen bulb with trace amounts of xenon gas. As you can see in the picture, the bulb is colored to give the illusion of being a 6000k bulb, but I guess for $19, it's worth a shot! Plus, lifetime replacement warranty so might be worth it in the long run.

What you're looking at is a gimmick by a manufacturer to make you believe that what you're buying is an actual hid bulb. They use terms like xenon gas, 6000k, and hid to make you believe your getting a better product than it is.

Stay with the DDM Tuning raptor kit....real hid, lifetime warranty, and only $35.

In general, a 55 watt halogen bulb produces a ~1400 lumens of light. A 35 watt HID produces ~3200 lumens.

Regardless, a car halogen bulb will not come close to a HID output.

Plus 35 wtt hid bulb produces MUCH less heat. I've experienced melted harnesses using PIAA 55wtt bulbs. Stay safe and use hid.

One other thing, there is no way ANY LIGHT BULB can be considered HID without a ballast or starter.

loving this site. I was just looking for some info for my 08 Fog lights.

Running HID as Fogs won't really hard anything right?

Sorry for the noob-ish questions.

Wow, these lights are not so bright. FML. Lol I'll take pics tomorrow morning and night.

Comparison:
Day:
OEM Halogen: Brighter
GP Thunder 8500K Halogen: Not AS bright.

Night:
OEM Halogen: Brighter
GP Thunder 8500K Halogen: Of course it's not as bright, since it's tinted. BUT it looks brighter when looking right at it. It also looks better.

While we're on this subject: How do you clean inside the foglight housing? My right foglight is brighter because it's a newer housing.

This was my attempt at trying to take a "night" pic in the day using my garage.
Mind you that the driver side housing is dirtier than the passenger side.
