HId fog help...

i just got 05 fx45 recently... my fog lights never worked even when i turn the switch on so the other day i wanted to replace the bulb thinking it was the bulb turned out my previous owner had HID installed in it.... well as i was checking with my limited knowledge..... and found that i had sometype of wire hat was connected to the positive side of the battery..... now i can't pix sosorry... and there is a 40amp fuse and it leads to a small black box tha has like 4 diffrent wires going through...
the wire that was connected to the positive side with the 40 amp fuse was burnt and disconnected.. so i reconnected it by simply using a yellow wire and
WALA i turn the fos switch and the fogs come back on kinda blueish..... well not for long about 2 hrs later it dies so i open the battery compartment and this time no burns.... or anything fuse is intact ...

1-Is there a incabin fuse for the fog lights?( i could'nt find it)
2-What can cause this and how can i fix it? any help?

ok i did the fix yesterday all along it wasn't working to day i did the drl swap with the
signal light and now the fogs are working .......only thing i just found out that my fog
works regarless of the fog light switch i guess it's just connect by it self or to the regular headlights.... any help will be appreciated

oh and how can i find out what type of hid i have... there reallyisn't a company name anywhere i think
 
Can you turn on the fogs and parking lights only? Or the headlights have to be on in order to the fogs to turn on? Or do the fogs come on when the car starts?

Can't really tell what brand the fogs are as there are hundreds of them. Probably a no name eBay ones is my best guess
 
ok i just check ed fogs do work with main headlight switch
with daytime dtrl n fog together with/without the headlight....
while i was checking i think the connections were bad passenger side came on and then off....so i played around with the switch by the steering wheel and it came back
on.... does this help in your diagnosis?

i guess it is connected to the main headlight but not the fog light switch
because me turning the fog light on and off does not interfere with it at all...
sorry for the incomplete sentences...... just in a rush

oh i also have condensation forming in the pass/ side....
so whenn i checked the socket both the sockets had been siliconed...
is this a legit way to silicone the sockets seal?
 
Can you turn on just the foglights without headlights or parking lights?
 
Huh? He must have wired it to come on with parking lights then. Originally the fogs come on with headlights only.
 
i wonder what may have happened to my original fogs.......
anyways is 40amp fuse too high for hid

SHOULD I USE 30
cu with the 40 wire was burnt... thank you for input
 
Still can't understand who would do such a thing...If u can afford to buy that truck at least pay someone to properly install a good set of Hid's..:confused.:
