Hi, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any knowledgeable input you can share with me regarding my vehicle. I have a 2008 FX35 with over 200 thousand miles. I need to replace the spark plugs and coils and would appreciate some direction on the best one to purchase online. I plan on purchasing them myself instead of having the garage that I am taking my vehicle to purchase them. Could you also share the approximate man hours that would be necessary to change all 6 coils and spark plugs please. Also, what would you consider a reasonable charge for this service in New York ?

Hi,

Welcome! As far as spark plugs and maintenance goes are you having a issue that your trying to fix by doing this or just doing maintenance?

your going to see a lot of opinions on brand of sparks such as Denso and ngk or oem and materials like iridium etc. Take it at face value and realize that its your daily car so dont buy the extremely cheap or extremely expensive. Also be warry of prices from stores like advance auto etc. They are all great auto parts stores for tools etc BUT you can always get the same exact stuff WAYY cheaper online. Specifically through sites such as Rock auto.

I recommend you go to Rock auto and type in your vehicle info and go with Denso.

All of my vehicles had the 3.7 not the 3.5 so think fx37 g37 etc vs your fx35 g35 etc. So I cant walk you through how exactly the swap is on your vehicle but I believe its easier than mine since I have 2 air intakes vs I believe you have 1. Regardless its a 1hr-30 minute or less job if youve done it before. 2-3 hr job if you never done it before and are watching a youtube video. Basically its a simple job. BUT shop wont charge you based on that, the technical hours to do the job is usually rated higher so you can be charged more. I would just google what those jobs typically cost in your area.
