I forking love this car!

196k miles. Silver finish, charcoal interior. Dash is immaculate. Driver seat leather is torn/thrashed.

Steering wheel shimmies at 60-65 mph.

All four corners and the hood have been molested over the years.

Pax headlamp points downward, can't adjust upward.

Everything works as it should.

Bought it for $4000 cash.

Brilliant car!

Nice! I have an 06 and fell in love when I test drove it. Sold my 06 eclipse for the FX and don’t regret it. Welcome to the forums. Lots of knowledge here. Throw up some pictures if you can

200K on plugs. Should run a little better with those out

Those are some gnarly plugs. I wonder if they're original?
I just did mine a few days ago and they were like the OP's the crust stuff on them is from oil seeping down the spark plug threads into the combustion chamber.

My gaskets are done too, next project for a weekend lol

Gotta fix the valve cover gaskets or it will end up like that again.

Those plugs indicate oil burning. Check your valve cover gaskets. They're a known failing part.

Also, you can see the oil on the threads. Were any of the ignition coils covered in oil?
No traces of oil on the coil tubes.

I'm going to pour in a bottle of Titan oil sealer to swell all the seals and stop any leaks. Worked like a champ on my 94 Land Cruiser, even the big leak at the distributor.

My '06 FX45 plugs don't look quite that bad, but they usually look pretty crusty after 60K miles or so - lots of deposits despite the way I drive. My valve cover gaskets are good. The OE plugs came out looking like that at 60K and the next two sets didn't get any better.

I suspect its also due to oil consumption our cars are so known for as well. Mine may be both at the same time.

Do you guys run additives?

I don't typically, but I have run a Redline additive a couple of times over the years. Mine has also always had cold piston slap. I just figure it is the nature of the beast. I'm nearing 190K miles now, so none of it has hurt longevity.

Fork me!! Two weeks after I buy this awesome car the radiator busts a leak at the bottom driver corner. I bought this car so I could park the 94 Land Cruiser until I could replace a leaking heater hose that can cause catastrophic damage at any time. Now this one's cooling system fails on me, too. My son will be driving me back and forth to work until I can replace the FX's radiator. I'd love to install a full-metal unit but I can't find one.

Here's the full-metal unit I had installed on the Land Cruiser. Rock solid, no plastic crap to break down and crack.IMAG0041.jpg IMAG0044.jpg

Radiator stopped leaking. Drove it this morning, no leaks. Same tonight. Weird.

Replaced the radiator cap tonight after refilling the coolant.

Hoping for the best.

I'm guessing the coolant became over-pressurized for some reason and found the weak spots: the plastic tanks on the radiator.
