Bought a 2010 fx35 with premium pkg and loving it so far. Haven't really been able to drive it a lot due to the snow in DC. My only gripe so far is the engine and road noise, any ideas to minimize that. Must say that this is one of the best fx forums.

There are many products out there for sound insulation and even more third party comparative reviews. While Dynamat is by far the most popular, it's not the most effective and definitely isn't the cheapest option. That said, the installation of pretty much any kind of purpose built sound deadening insulation will make a huge difference in interior road/engine noise compared to what comes in a stock FX...which is virtually nothing.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Tchuck I did read about dynamat but don't have the skills to diy. Does anyone know of a good shop in the nova area that does it? Also why does Infiniti have such bad insulation, seems retarded in a luxury car.

the whole idea of an FX35 was to remind people it's a bigger sports car and not a grandma wagon, So I think they left the insulation out for people to hear the engine, exhaust and all other noises that can be heard while driving.

Infiniti's goal is to have sports-oriented vehicles. That's why the cars all have tuned exhausts, etc.

where abouts in ashburn? fellow DMV'er. welcome to the scene! i hope to see you on the road!

Farmwell hunt. Hope to see ya on the road too. Had a lot of pressure to buy the RX but I am glad I went with my heart and got the FX.

Any car audio installer can do the sound insulation. Most respectable auto shops should be up to the task as well.

sound insulation

I have Brown Bread Ultimate, which is just another version of the same thing. I installed it in my trunk area primarily to combat the drone of my muffler. Not only did it made a HUGE difference with regard to the exhaust noise, but it made the subwoofer sound a little tighter and more responsive.

Like I said before, Dynamat (the brand) is probably the most expensive and not the most effective option. That said, even if I had paid someone to install Dynamat I would still say it's a very worthwhile mod. DO IT.
