2003 fx35
After much research and procrastination (parting w/ current vehicle, 1998 Black/black v6 accord coupe that has served as my chariot for 8 yrs, but i've grown out of it), I decided to get myself one of these beasts. I've been keeping an eye out for an fx35 that was "for me" for the past ~4 months, not too many on the market....fast forward to this past sunday. The snow finally let up (Vancouver, BC, home of the 2010 Olympics) and i was able to go check one out that just came on the market last week....

2003, black on black (like my ol' coupe) w/ nav, tech package, ~84k km's thats around 52k miles. Around 80% tread remaining (thank god, cause 20's aint cheap!), brand new brakes all around JUST installed at dealer, and i think thats about it for relevant info. Fair deal too, i didn't get a smoking deal, nor did I get ripped off, lets face it, this is a solid ride, that doesn't stay on market long. I think i could've squeaked out a few hundred $ more, but frankly, didn't want to take the chance losing this car.
Its perfect for me/my style, I'm addicted to snowboarding and the accord sittin on 18's on H/R race springs w/ i/h/e was just not right for the treks up to the Mtn. I am lucky to know that my job is secure and therefore ok w/ taking it on at this otherwise difficult economic time. I was somewhat hesitant, BUT my car is/was going to start costing me more $ and well, just didn't wanna deal w/ it.
Ok, sorry bout the ramble, but felt i need to bond w/ yall, haha. SO, i am just in the process of finalizing the financing before i go pick 'er up (at my liesure, its at a Nissan Dealership about 45 mins away) and just wanted to ask if there is ANYTHING significant i need to watch out for/be aware of. It was pouring rain so I requested they dry her up and leave her in the bay for me to do a once over, but I expect it to have some nicks/scratches (it is 6 yrs old now!). I’m buying the dealer ext. bump/bump warrantee, so covered there too.

I forgot to make sure, but it should come w/ the wireless headphones for the back DVD unit right? I just called in and salesguy said he can’t recall if they were turned in w/ the vehicle, but will find out. As I understand it, it’s the dealer responsibility to ensure everything that is Stock, ie. Comes w/ the car should be w/ the car right? If they say the don’t have them or can’t find them, what suggestions to you folks have?

Ok folks, that’s about it for now, I appreciate your feedback and great info. on here.

Jigjag,
Ps. I can’t wait to drive it home! – but pls if anything comes to mind that I should inspect, let me know!

First Off Congrats on the new ride...Welcome to IS...Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me, as for the headphones I don't think it is the dealerships responsibility to replace the wireless headphones if they didn't receive them with the vehicle.

Welcome to :iS: all things FX. I know you will like it here enjoy your new ride.

Welcome to the Scene and congrats on the FX!

Before taking the FX out of the dealer, make sure it has all the relevant recalls done. I am guessing the fx has the entertainment package because you mentioned the dvd but if you weren't aware the tech package does not include the dvd entertainment option as they were two different options in 03.

There really isn't any real issues with the first generation fx but one thing off the top of my head is I suggest doing a thorough inspection of the dash as some here have had bubbeling issues in leather areas of the front dash. Have a look in the technical section and see what other issues members have had with their fx's.

thanks so far guys.
Ya it does have the tech and dvd package w/ flip down LCD in the rear.
The seats looked pretty good, dash did not have any easily identifable issues, mind u i did not inspect thoroughly...

Hey, welcome to the scene and enjoy your FX. Any future mods?

Mods, oh yea. nothing big, prolly just intake, stb and a good air freshner for now : )
don't wanna spend any money on an already mint vehicle, got the 20's on there so no rush for new rims, maybe come summer...

I would go with exhaust before wheels imo... because if you get wheels, you're gonna wanna lower it too, especially if you go 22's

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new FX. I am also an avid snowboarder (don't let the location fool you I spend a lot of time in Colorado) and I think the FX offers a perfect mix of practicality, utility, while still offering you some fun getting up and down the mountains.

Btw, you live in a beautiful city. I lived in Seattle for a couple of years and spent a lot of time up in Whistler and Vancouver.

Alright...

I brought the new baby home last nite, and well, everything i wanted and more!

It was funny, as i was getting the insurance transferred over, it started snowing pretty bad and well, i didn't give a rats arse! bring it motha nature... said bye to the coupe, and danced home thru the snow....

What a feeling, kinda surreal after owning the same car for 8 yrs and then making a jump like this.

A couple of questions...
- is the rear lcd supposed to flip down on its own or does it have to be manually pulled?
- rear cup holder reaaaaaaaal sticky, does not want to come out.
- shocks for tailgate are weak! bumped me on the head as i was getting sub out!

otherwise, wowewow.

will get some pix up asap. I must admit, the rhino is Clean for an 03....

6 posts away from pics . . you can also change your line in right hand corner & get rid of the 'potential' . . yay!

Welcome to the fam :iS:

Rear DVD is manual. And yes the rear cup holder is sticky sometimes, I think it gets that way when people sit their, but you get used to it and figure out how to work it and not destroy it. Don't know anything about the hatchback shocks, have not had an issue with that yet, but Im sure somebody on here has.

Enjoy

The rear cup holder should not be sticky at all. It probably is dirty from spilled soda that is not letting it slide out as it normally should.
