Recently got car back from my ex and have been fixing little things on it. Was driving it the other day and realized when turning very sharp, the rear diff will make a sort of popping sound that acts similar to how a posi might act around a corner. hard to explain but I can literally feel something grab>let go>grab>let go.
I decided I needed to get AWD out of the equation so I pulled the 10A fuse in the cab for the solenoid. That solves the issue! The damn thing is trying to go into AWD when turning! I know it needs to detect slip to to lock up, and turning will give a high RPM ratio between left and right so I am trying to pull all this together. Almost like maybe a turning sensor. I know I have no warning lights in the dash and AWD obviously wants to work. When I pull the fuse, I get an amber AWD dash light, and will go away when the fuse is installed.
I guess a wheel sensor could be going BUT I am pretty sure it uses the sensors for ABS so any real issue there should trip an ABS light.
I am just baffled here.
