I hadn't turned my 03 fx on in about a month. The other day I turned her on to get the fluids going and take her for a drive.

After about 3 minutes of warming up, I drove away and noticed it smelled like burnt. I pulled over opened the hood and a lot of white smoke which smelled like coolant was released.

i turned the truck back on to see if I could trace the but nothing else came out. Drove around the neighborhood even on a small stretch of freeway but nothing, temp level stayed in correct place, no bubbling or overheating could be seen or heard.

any ideas why this could be??? Thanks

Edit:

just went and started her up again, noticed that the smoke is coming from an area between the engine and the battery compartment. It's white smoke and the only other time I remember smelling something like this is like an exhaust smell or when I do a sea foam treatment... Smells just like burnt can't really explain it any other way

also when I shut the truck off,I could hear dripping from this area but could not see where or what it was.

any ideas???mthanks

i wonder if any pests chewed through rubber hoses? i remember when my neighbor freaked out when a hose was chewed up and leaking against the headers, which made a ton of smoke.

There are coolant hoses that run over the exhaust manifold on that side. Maybe one is leaking now. I want to say the hoses that run to the heater core are back there, but I can't remember.
