**Help**Installed Ipod interface now CAR WONT START

I know it sounds crazy but I installed the PAC Ipod interface and the ground came loose. I also had the radio on without the car running then everything shut down. Now it could be a coincidence but the car wont start..."just tick tick tick tick" battery has 12 volts, even tried jumping it but no different. First thought was I shorted something out...but even so the voltage would be so low the only thing that shoulda blew would be the radio fuse. Checked all fuses and relays and none blown.
Keep in mind the radio still works and plays fine.

But when I try to start the car "tick tick tick." And my instrument cluster blinks constantly while trying to start the car.

Next thought is I inadvertantly disconnect or loosend a wire back there but no luck finding anything. I even put the stock harness back in and removed the PAC unit.

Third thought, I replaced the battery...no luck and wasted my money.

Checked relays and fuses in engine bay..nothing blown.

Final thought,

1) Maybe my starter just happend to go out at the same time?

2) Is there a security feature that doesn't allow me to start the car and did I activate it disconnecting the stock unit? or because I caused a short possibly?

I'm pissing in the wind, and dont wanna pay to have it towed and fixed at the dealership.

I put in a optima yellow top and still no go. I tried jumping but no luck even reving the donor engine it still didn't turn over. I check my battery with a voltmeter...12.8 which I thought is good. Put in the yellow top and even tried jumping and no luck...just "tick tick tick"

Is there a "safe mode?" tryin to narrow it down and keep the spending of $$$$ to a minimum.
 
I assume you tighten down both battery connections?

are the battery terminal clamps in good shape? contact area clean ?

try measuring the voltage across the battery during a crank, does it drop?
 
the voltage drop means there is definitely a draw from the battery.
when you say 'the ground came loose', from the battery right? still sounds like a bad connection if its not the battery. good luck I m at a blank right now.
maybe you can call the Infiniti deaer for a freebie advice if all fails. good luck
 
No the ground on the ipod adaptor necessary to charge the ipod thru the radio thats why I'm sure it couldnt have created that much electrical interference. So I think it's a coincidence.

Hmm I'm baffled. Anything to do with the intellikey? Starter?
 
im my opinion it may be a faulty ignition switch turn the key to the on position not all the way to start it If the lights on your dash dont light up and your battery connections are good the ignition switch is bad but if you got 12 volts to the battery its definetly not the battery

Just to be sure, you checked the fuse/relay panels in the drivers lower dash area also? You specified the box under the hood but not these... The starter relay is under there.

You didn't waste your money on that battery. They are bad ass. :tup:

Problem solved! My ground to my stock battery was corroded and my stock battery was shot. Turns out the Optima Yellow Top I bought was low on voltage thus not turning it over either. I bench charged it and replaced the stock ground to the battery and WOLLLA! Optima Yellow plus New Ground = Sex
 
glad you got everything figured out :). Must have felt good when your car finally started and made your day
