Hey, guys, so I replaced the fog light with 55W HID
They were ok for a few days and then it started to lid up only one side (left/right takes turns)
Now, both of them don't turn on anymore. But I still hear the ballast buzz sound when I turn on the switch tho

What do you think that is? I was told it could be power issue where I have to wire the power directly from the battery to solve this?

55W is too much for the small foglight space enclosure.. it might have overheated.. I'm using 35W and it's been a year now and it's still going strong

55W is pretty heavy for fogs, you could have blown fuses. Most guys use 35W for Fogs.

fuse is fine. I checked.
it did blow the factory 10A at the beginning so I up it to 15A.

So if I want to switch to 35W, can I just buy the 35W ballasts to connect with the current 55W HID bulb?

Replacing a 10A fuse with a 15A fuse runs the risk of damaging the wiring since you're basically letting the system push 50% more amperage than the wiring is likely rated for. If you were already blowing fuses, then there is a chance that you've damaged something.

If you want to switch to 35W, you should replace everything. A 55W bulb will likely work with the 35W ballast, but depending on the quality of the ballast, it might flicker or not power the bulb at all.

If you just tapped into the existing wires, you probably are overloading the system. A 10 amp fuse will run ~140W (10ampsx14volts). That would include your foglights plus whatever else is running off it. Replacing it with a 15 amp isn't solving your problem, you're going to melt your wires or something else. I'm not 100% familiar with the electronics on you're car, but I bet there's something that is limiting the power your fogs are getting to prevent further damage.

Either replace with 35W system, do the entire thing, not just ballasts. Or as they've told you, wire it directly to your battery with a relay.

thanks, guys.
Yea, so I bought two sets of universal relay to try and see how that goes.
if still not working, I'll switch to 35W.

another question, guys
Do I need two separated sets of relay for each side or need one?

Just Googled and found I only need one side.

Problem finally solved after 1 hour of trouble shooting...(literally tried them all for real)
I did try the relay and it did not work.
Turned out, it's the ballast. I swapped an old slim ballast that been sitting there for years (55W) and it works!

FYI, don't buy this one.

Glad to see you found the problem. I know how frustrating it is...I've been there.
Also, I know members had success with DDM's systems but not me.
How do your lights look?

It's great now.
DDM has been great actually. The old ballast that I ended up with is also from DDM
But this new one seems to be from someone else that they sell through DDM website. I dun know.
It's all good now. I am testing them out now and wish for the best lol
