Hello from Seattle

I have a 2005 FX35. At the moment, it is stock, though i do have the tech package. I am trying to find the most cost effective way to increase the performance and sound of the car. Suggestions?

Welcome to :iS:!!!!!!!

If you're on a budget and want to increase Performance, I would suggest a plenum spacer. Best bang for the buck IMO. When you say increase sound, do you mean Audio? Or engine/exhaust sound?

Welcome to the scene. Happy to see a fellow Seattleite posting, not many of us out here. LOTS you can do to a 35....

YO stock-Pretty much you and me man. Wait until you start asking about mods, dealerships around here are not so well versed in upgrade work. One suggestion for springs and spacers (maybe more, that's all I've used them for so far but they will also be doing my GTSPEC brace installs)-Group 2 Motorsports over in the Fisherman's terminal near Ballard http://www.group2inc.com/index.html. They do work on a variety of exotics BUT they are really top notch and their prices are surprisingly BETTER than most everybody else I spoke with. Let me know what you end up doing and who you end up doing it with, always looking for service connections.

Welcome to IS. I have family in Seattle and we visit once or twice each year, so Seattle is like a second home to us. We take the FX for the 13 hour drive all the time...such a nice ride for long trips and the passing power is awesome.

I'm going to buy the Invidia Q300 exhaust and install it the next time we go to Seattle in Sept or Oct. That way I can compare the performance and sound on the trip there and trip back. I've heard good things about this exhaust. Do a search for it on this forum and see if it interests you. I'll need a good garage to do the job there, so the info in post #8 is helpful (Thanks Logan).

There are a few other exhaust options for you, though it sounds like some might need some extra tweaking or mod to fit the 45 (not too sure on that). Those options include: Stillen, Nismo and HKS. Some have opted to go with a custom exhaust using a Flowmaster 80 muffler. Based on member comments, some systems keep the signature Infiniti/Nissan performance muffler sound (or as Car & Driver calls the Chewbacca growl LOL) but just makes it throatier. Other systems make the exhaust louder and changes the signature sound...you'll have to look through previous threads and/or go on Youtube to listen to the differences and decide which you like. But unfortunately, there's much less aftermarket stuff for our 45s compared to the 35s (e.g. forced induction).

Enjoy your modding journey...word of warning, it's very addictive.

For mod work in Seattle check out cnc (carnutzcustomz.com) in Bellevue. When I move up I'll be hanging here during my off time.

+1 Carnutz does excellent work. Check out the online review-http://best.king5.com/cnc-car-nutz-customz/biz/129440

I found this thing on MyNismo.com called a "MREV2" made by Motordyne... seems like a step in the right direction for me, I was wondering if anyone had tried this or would recomend not buying it based on the company or whatever. I'm a little new to the whole modding thing as far as turning concept into reality...

Great company, not much to gain since it works best on rev-up engines. From what I understand, even though in around 2005, Z/G's got the rev-up, I don't think we did. And no, the rev-up and VQ35HR are not the same.
