Hi guys!! Just picked up a new 2010 FX35 last night. It's graphite on graphite. I've been lurking this site for a while now and just wanted to introduce myself.. Tinted the windows this morning to match the factory...

Anyway, hello and see you guys around.

Welcome -- brave for tinting the fronts, Chicago cops and surrounding suburbs can be pretty strict on giving out tickets. I'm not sure if they approved the law for allowing a partial tint in the front windows.

Post some pictures!

There was actually a law passed in in Illinois at the end of '09 stating that the fronts can be tinted up to 50% if you have a factory tint in the rear. Not a lot of cops know if it yet, but it is law and you can look it up. Of course mine is 18% to match the factory

In reality, I'm not worried about the Chicago cops, they actually have real things to do. It's the burbs where I'm weary, these cops call in all units if they pull over a guy for making an illegal u-turn. Now if it's a person of color, they call in the national guard.

Oh, tix are now $250 here.. ouch!

Really? I will have to search for this. I tinted my fronts 15% to match the rear the day after I bought my FX too. Ive never had a problem for tint, except once being pulled over for speeding in my old Audi.

I'm in Chicago too ... Which dealer did you purchase your FX ? I got mine at Fields.

Congrats and welcome.

Went to Fields to test drive the cars, but ended up at Chicago Infiniti because they offered the best deal; plus they are only a few blocks away from me. I had 3 dealerships bid against each other for 2 weeks.

FWIW: I dealt with Melvin and then with Bill Michlin while at Fields. Good service.

Yeah, Chicago cops must have real things to do, because all the cars are going very fast on their major freeway - 80+ almost same driving style in LA!!! Unlike the cops in MN, they got nothing better to do and like to creep up from behind all the time. On a weekday, during the rush hours, on a major freeway, one stupid cop came out from nowhere and pulled me over and tried to give me a ticket for tiniting the front windows in my Evo. Luckily i had it done at the legit limit and the cop had nothing to do to say - other than "drive safely" -

Anyways, WELCOME to :iS:

Really? Which freeways are those? I am from Southern California and I think every here in Chicago drive like blind old ladies......

BTW, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your FX. Lots of great information here.

Welcome to IS. Yea, I'm aware of the new front tinting law in the Illinois too. My front is at 20% and park in the Chicago Chinatown street at least once a week without any problem yet. No problem so far in the subs neither. I guess just luck, I guess.
