HELLO everyone, I've just recently gotten a berillyum 04 fx35 in feb. I decided i should start getting some mods on my car as i've always wanted to have a tuned up car, so thats why im here :smug: . Nice to meet you guys! so far ive been on a money budjet as im still in high skool and only have one part time job... BUT! I had some money saved up from my job and gotten my entire interior lights changed to LED blue, HID fogs 8k , HID lights 6k and still working on the lowering. My first question to you guys is, is do I need to get new struts installed with my H&R springs? I just bought the H&R lowering springs but i've heard that if i dont change my struts also, i will damage the struts in the long run ..... is that true? I am trying to save money, so im hoping this isnt :eek.: lol

Welcome to the Scene! and congrats on the FX!

Since you bought the FX used it might be a good idea to change out the struts and shocks when you do the H&R install but it is not required. Depending on the mileage and if the prior owner possibly had it replaced than you won't need to change them. But my guess is that the prior owner did not replace them and you have more than 50k miles on the FX. If so than yea change out the struts and shocks as your ride will greatly improve with the H&R combo.

welcome to IS. and wow u sound like me . i just finished high school and trying to mod my FX lil by lil with my part time job. i also drive a 2004 beryllium FX. and i got H&R springs installed and the stock struts will do fine . its better to replace them though if you got the money .i didnt replace mine cause i was a lil tight with cash at the time .they say you should change the struts around 50k miles anyway cause they say they go bad around that time . i got 47k and they seem fine no problems , rides perfect . your gonna love the difference in ride quality with the H&R springs .

Nice to meet you guys! i guess im going to have to keep my stocks for now as im tight on money too. want to save up and buy some 22' rims. btw, how do i know when my struts are going bad and i have to replace them? Thanks.

yea same here i want some 22s also in the future but for now i might powdercoat my stocks or get a set of FX50s 21s if i can get them cheap . and ive never felt how a FX rides on bad struts but ive felt in previous cars that it starts to ride bad when the struts are going bad. rides very bouncy or spongy . bumps might feel like they hit harder then before

I see! Thanks for the info  and talking about powercoating the rims, i was planning to do that too, but... idk if it'll look good on a berillyum fx

thats the same thing i thought till i saw them on a beryllium FX . lol. some guys on here photoshopped it and it looks sick in 2 colors . powdercoated black dropped on H&R looks sick and powdercoated dark gun metal dropped on H&R looks sicker , imma go with the gun metal color if i do it .

Thank you for the warm welcome  and Chris, that is a mean looking fx with gun metal rims :eek.: i guess i would love to get mines powdercoated to that color and red calipers with lowered rims, originally i had thought about those spideros that was really popular, but since they seem to be like 4k for the set i would rather go with this type of set up (powerdercoating) with some red calipers also

Hey welcome, you found the site. I've join about six months now. Great site.... informative, fun and great people on here.

I bought my used (a great deal from a family friend) and the previous owner didn't care much on the vehicle. the first thing I got rid of were the springs, struts and shocks. Let me tell ya, the ride is night and day my friend.

If you're handy around car, Here is nice DIY written by MN_FX that I use to install my.

yea same here , i want 22 inch asanti but its like 6k to 7k with tires . so imma go the powdercoating way for now also . and thinking about painting my calipers like bronze or gold . well just showed u a couple routes u can to make the FX look sick with out blowing so much cash . cause im on the same boat as you with the cash lol .

hey thanks for the diy .. I was wondering how do you do the "re quoting" thing chris, was figuring out how for the past 30 mins :frown: and i have to say, bronze is very nice too. is dupi color the right brand for coloring?
