Hello and where do I find eye lids?

Hi everyone, I am new to the sight and would like to say thanks to the many people that have helped me make decisions on certain mods to my 2010 fx35.

I have a question regarding eyelids. I saw one member install some eyelids that he received from Russia, but had to do some fabrication to the part for a solid installation. Therefore, does anyone know if there is a part that will fit better? Or what do you all think about just using vinyl?

I'm the kind of person that can't stand people that put cheap chrome trim, or other lame visual mods on their car and that think they look cool. Do you think the vinyl eyelids would fall into the category of "lame visual mods"

Thanks all

I guess you could say they looked a bit tacked on. Really I thought they looked pretty slick but the body to eyelid seams just give it away as a add on. That combined with the cost, mod work to fit, and failure to stay on, ehhhh.

Ya, I'm totally talking about RipnFX's headlight eyelids. I think they look great but I am not willing to deal with the hassle he did. I've printed of a couple of his pics and I'm gonna see if I can replicate it in vinyl. Lots of cars use vinyl eyelids, but I think only a couple look good.

Props to the work RipnFX did, I would way rather do what he did, but......

Vinyl will look tacked on no matter what you do. A long, long time ago in a land far away I owned a vinyl shop before branching into other products. Did a ton of vinyl eyelids (this was back in the late 90's early 00 ricer times). It never looked quite right. The biggest issue that you'll never be able to color match so they'll obviously look stuck on. Also, vinyl is just a sticker so it has no depth. It won't match the depth of the hood, fenders like real eyelids can. Go to the G35 forums and look at some pics of vinyl eyelids/overlays, it's atrocious. Also, vinyl is not fully opaque so when your headlights are on, there will be light bleed unless you stack multiple layers. Vinyl eyelids totally fall into the chrome trim and fake vent category. Don't get me wrong, I love vinyl, one of my cars is fully wrapped. But for eyelids, it's a no go.
