Hello (and need help) from a potential new owner of a '07 FX35

Jeff Burley is the Used car sales manager, Joe Paulus is the internet sales guy at Infiniti of Tacoma @ Fife. I've had good luck INTERNET (keep to the key board as long as you can then call) shopping two or three dealerships then pitting them against each other. If the car is not a CPO have it third party inspected and be there when they do it. Some buyers scoff at Carfax, I'd do that first just to see where it came from but that's just me. I found my car was a corporate/fleet car but that it VERY well taken car of.

Thanks so much for the info. I don't put too much weight in the Carfax report. It's only going to tell you stuff that's been reported. If anything, the purchase will be contingent upon a third party inspection. I know they told me it's been inspected by their guys, but let's be honest, you just never know.

Agreed, can't trust anything they tell you, even if they don't know if there are issues they are trying to sell vehicles in a down economy. If its not CPO do the bucks deluxe inspection. Most of my cars I buy are up and down the west coast as I'm looking for the combination of factors I personally want-color, mileage, condition, options etc... The FX I found in CA and I ran everything on it, when you are that far off site and you have to buy a ticket, run it all. Although even if I buy in my own backyard I run it all anyway, never want to look back and think wow, wish I would have kicked that tire twice.....

#1 sounds good, go with the low miles. Beat them up on the price.

Is there any specific place you prefer locally for the inspection? I know a friend that is infiniti certified and works at a local shop, but would rather take it to a shop that's done this for a living.

I'd like to think that if they don't CPO it, I ain't buying. If not, I'll definitley get it checked. I should make that a requirment before purchasing...hmmm. The "oh it's in tip top shape" quote from the salesperson isn't doing anything for me. You better believe I'm gonna get a decent deal. I'm not a buzzillionaire and never pay sticker for anything...lol. End of the month, quotas, spiffs, etc.

The shops I frequent now are speed shops :) The last service I used was Carchex, I had one of their better guys and he did a great job BUT its not a shop and they don't break anything down. Report was dead on though (excluding a paint problem that wasn't visible in certain light) I'd say use your friend he'll probably do you right. Take your time go over everything look for damage, water damage.....

I like the desire to work the price, I am the same way. Nothing left on the table.

Just a side note, I picked mine up from Infiniti Kirkland ... had a great experience, but who knows if that's the norm there or not. What I would say though is double check to see if the listing is on Craigslist. When looking for mine, I noticed that many ads on there were consistently lower priced in comparison to the autotraders etc ... some times as much as $1.5k. Definitely worth giving it a quick check so you can make sure negotiations are starting at the lowest possible price point.

Good luck with the purchase!
