Hello (and need help) from a potential new owner of a '07 FX35

Hello!!!

I'm glad I was able to find these forums. It's been a great resource. A little background of myself. I used to be an '04 G35 6MT owner until recently. A drunk driver hit me and totaled the car. I'm good, but the cars were totalled messed up. I'm glad I'm still ok and 100%. I'm in the market for a FX35 and would like a 06-08 with sport and tech package.

I found a couple at my dealer, but needed everyone's advice/suggestions. I'm not hear to nickel and dime them, but don't want to be taken either.

Car #1:
'07 (maybe an '08...I forgot:mad:) 19,000 miles, asking $32K, sport and tech

Car #2:
'06 45,000 miles, asking $30K, sport and tech

My question is what would be a decent price to take either of these guys home? I'm going to have them throw in rubber mats and new tires on those massive 20's....I sure don't want to buy tires for those guys...haha. I'd like to stay under warranty to cover any issues that may arise, especially if the miles are high.

Thanks in advance!

What are the colors? And what color do YOU want?

id go with the 07-08 much better deal for only 2k more and heck you can prob bargain to 30k

Not too picky on the colors. The one w/ lower miles is blk/blk. The other is copper w/ a tan interior. I don't know if that would make it a bit more rare, but just in case I want to sell it in the years ahead, it may make it harder to sell.

$30K out the door (including tax, title, & license)???? Asking too much?

Number 2 is a terrible deal. First one is better, especially if it's an '08. Are these certified pre-owned?

BLK/BLK is the way to go, thats what i have it does get a lil hot sometimes but you dont have to worry about it tooo much being in seattle. The first one is deff a better deal and prac a new car

Cool...thank you. Actually, the blk/blk is an '07. Still, w/ 18K, it's essentially a new car.

Any ideas how much I should ask for? With my limited research, I'm thinking 28-29??? Of course new tires are a must and that shouldn't be a problem. Mats, buffing out any scratches, body work should be taken care of, etc. The tires; they'll just swap it out w/ another FX.

I don't think they're CPO'd. They are at an Infiniti dealer versus an auto broker or Ford dealership. :)

That sounds like a decent price point to start at. New tires is good if the current ones look old at all. They will probably give you mats and go over some light scratches, but don't expect too much body work. It's still a used car, so it won't look perfect.

The tires on them right now are almost at the wear bears. I say 2,000ish miles. Since it rains up here alot...I probably want some good tread. Yes, just some buffing would be nice. Possibly, the scratched up air dam and some peeling/fading on the gear shift lever.

welcome to IS and youe #1 choice is the way to go.. talk to the saleman.. you'll get it for 3o or less for sure..!

good luck!

I completely agree. It's gotta be less than 30K. If they give it to me for 27.5/28K. I think I'd be comfortable w/ that. Even better if it's out the door!

Yeah, #1 is definitely the way to go. For reference, there is a 2006 Copper/Brick Sport/Tech FX35 with 46k miles here in Houston at an Infiniti dealer and they are only asking 27k. So 30k is way too much. Was this a personal car or lease?

Let us know how this ends up. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. That's quite a difference. I can probably pull that '06 for 25ish depending how much there in it for.

Welcome to the forum! Who's the salesman you are working with at fife?

I believe his name was Ken. I spoke with him a few days ago, but there was another new guy helping me as well. To be honest, I wanted to go straight to the sales mgr so we could do that little negotiation dance.

yeah, but just keep in mind that since these arent Certified, the basic warranty on that 06 will be up within a year, depending on when the original in-service date is.

True, True....from my very limited research, it sounds like the FX's are built like tanks. I would like to have a warranty for a period of time though, just in case....repairs aren't cheap nowadays. Just ask my old Audi S4....jeeezzzz

Yup, sounds like they are all built like tanks. All except for mine that is :) but thats a different story. Good luck with the sale. I'm curious to see how much you get it for.. I may be in the market for one soon depending on how things go.
