Thought I'd say hello to everyone here. Our family just picked up a 2008 FX35, Sport package, Tech package, 35k miles. I've already started with the mods and would like to thank everyone here for the great DIY's, and info regarding this vehicle. I'm coming from a BMW and learned a lot from those forums, so I'm glad this forum is full of information.

Hey, Welcome to the forum! Going to love the ride and the sense of community here is outstanding.

Welcome to :iS:. I'm sure you will like the site. Plenty of mods on the 1st Gen FX35.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I really had my eye on a 2009 FX50, but just couldn't make it work out financially to my liking. When this first gen came up it had everything I wanted (minus the v8). I drove a 540i for years so I wanted something that would be comparable, but the one we got fits us just fine.

congrat on the fx! I am thinking about getting either a 540i/m5. how you like your bmw? any major problems?

jlee- I traded in my e39 2000 540iA. I loved that car. With Bimmers, it's all about preventative maintenance and good record keeping. My friends have e39 M5's and those are great as well. Mine was only modded for looks, lowered, rims, and stereo, but having the v8 was great. I don't have a heavy foot so I could get 18-19mpg per tank. My commute is a mixed of highway & city. A general rule my mechanic (formerly a mechanic at BMW Seattle) would tout is that he'd take a higher mileage BMW **WITH** records, over a lower mileage with **NO** records. That said, the 540/M5 being v8s are prone to valley pan and valve cover leaks. 540i's specifically have weak cooling systems so if it has over 60K, check to see if they've been replaced.

Blueduck- Right now mods are limited to:
1)tinting the front windows to match the rest of the car
2) Nokya Yellow fog light bulbs
3)USA Spec Ipod adapter
4)Momo shift knob
5)Thule Ride on Adapter for the roof rack (Bike trays)

Eventually down the road, WeatherTech mats, and possibly headrest monitors for the boys. I'm really just starting to get used to the car and enjoy it for what it is.

Whoa, how the hell did I miss that you were in Seattle? Shame on me, greeting without checking the information fully......What part of Seattle?

^ finally someone you can bond with in the fx world!

Anyone deserves someone in their state its you!

Hey hey. I'm right in the neighborhood just north of u (Everett). If you ever need help with anything don't be shy to ask. There are not many us here in Seattle area but one of the best lookin/all around FX45s belongs to Logan there.
