Heated Seat warm-up time?

that is a good idea. cold steering wheels i think are worse than cold seats. anyways, its like 25 degrees out right now, and my FX is iced over so we will see how well they warm up, but im going to let it idle for a bit to melt the ice.

Well mine take 20 minutes to warm-up at -25deg and it's only warm compare to my chevy truck that take 5 minutes and i can't stay it to high because it's a way too hot ! and My fx Passenger seat don't heat or very low !

I think they should have put heated steering wheel instead of heated seats. what do you guys think?
Infiniti seat heaters are useless, they have been lousy in my 05,07 G35s and 09FX.
I would much rather have a heated steering wheel. Heck why does Nissan put heated steering wheels in the Maxima and none in the FX or the G35/37s

It takes about 10 minutes for mine to warm up. Also, I can feel it get hotter as I accelerate aggressively. Or that could just be me.

It's different because Infiniti (at least in the FX) heats seats through blowing hot air like climate control blows hots air through the vents.
This is also why efficiently our cars can get cold seats in the same way.
This is also why our FXs have filters below the seats since it pulls the air from there I believe to cool/heat the seats.

Most american cars have heat pads....they are independent of the car warming up and hence warm up fast and very very hot....sometimes way to much, but yes fast, but you also don't get cooling seats, which I love in the summers.

Mine are slow to warm up, but after driving with heated seats for 20 minutes, it can get really hot and sometimes need to turn it down. I've had heated seats in a cadillac and it gets so hot after 30 minutes your ass and back are basically sweating....who needs it that hot imo.

If you are not getting fairly hot seats after 30 minutes of driving, I would check the filters and/or get new ones or clean them with a vac....Aaron has a DIY of this on the site if you want because the filters are expensive....I clean them every 30,000 miles.

1st gen FX's don't use filters or blow cool and warm air through the seat because the leather isn't perforated like the 2nd gen's. They use a heating coil wrapped up behind the seat padding to warm it up I believe. 2nd gen's use a blower motor to heat and cool the seats hence the use of a filter. The air duct is like 1 inch up from the floor under the seat which probably explains why it uses a filter.

This is why i need a remote starter, leave the heated seats/ maybe the heater on. after 10 mins car will be nice and warm

heating coil does sound horribly inefficient.

Not only is it a heat coil, but it's a heat coil sandwiched between two 1" thick pieces of foam. It works really well but does take a while to warm up. Even if you could warm it up in advance, the heat doesn't really transfer to the surface until you sit on it (compress the foam) for a minute or two. My Audi is similarly equipped and works just about the same way.

What do you mean by "heating pads"? A coil sandwiched between two pieces of foam is a heating pad, technically speaking.

I've found that if I pre-heat my ass before leaving the house then I'm good for the 5-8 minutes for my seats to heat up.
