Headlight Removal

Hey guys, is there a how-to for removing the bumper/headlights from the 09+ FX35?

I am looking to black out my headlights but I do not know where to start with the bumper removal.

Thanks!

I really wish I could help ya with this. Took mine off a couple years ago but needed help from some guys at work ( autobody shop ). Its not hard & you obviously should be careful, also makes it easier with a trusting friend to help you.

What did you have to do? Do wheels have to come off? Any info is appreciated!
I didn't take the wheels off but you could to make it easier to get to the hardware in front of the wheel. I just turned the wheel to the right to loosen up hardware on the left side, started up the car turn the wheel to the left to get to the hardware on the right side. Once you open the hood you'll see these rubber mat looking pieces that are near the headlights you pop those off along with the rest of the rubber around it and you'll be able to see what to get at. Hard to explain. But I know I had to take off the bumper in order remove the headlights. I'll take a look at mine in a hour or so and see if I can help you out.

Thanks, that guide was exactly what I needed. Doesn't seem too difficult at all, just a bunch of bolts and clips, nothing too serious.

Exactly, I will be doing that sometime down the road. You may want to enlist someone to help you do this to physically remove the bumper to avoid any kind of scratching due to its size.

Taking the bumper off was a pain, but I actually head more trouble removing the headlights. Some of those clips are confusing as hell to unattach!

Anyways, they'll be going back on tomorrow, already sealed and ready to go!

Left the rings around the projectors chrome, and removed the orange side markers, painted the whole interior low-gloss black.

Use any automotive primer and paint. Make sure to sand the chrome or the paint won't stick.
