anyone know where i can find the relay for the drivers side headlight (04 fx35 awd)? and how can i check if it has died? drivers side headlight has stopped working. its not the bulb as i switched the drivers bulb to the passenger side and it lit up. i thought it might be the fuse or the hid booster thing. today i learned there are no headlight fuses so the relay is the next thing id like to eliminate from the list.

Ash,

It could be the ignitor or the ballast. You're going to have to take off the front bumper to check.

Relay would control both headlights...and since one works, that is out. Most likely your ballast has gone bad. Ebay appox $50 Dealer $200

check.. not the relay. whats the ignitor and where do i find it?
how does one check the ballast? i was going to test it with one of those testers that light up when the current is hot.. just stick it between the ballast and the bulb?

Switch out the ballast and igniter with the other headlight thats working and recheck. You will have to remove the headlights. The ballast is located under the headlight screwed on with three screws and the igniter is the silver thing that is located behind the bulb.

You can try to test the hot side of the circuit, but a bad ground is probably more likely...

If you have a Multi-meter, try this:
