Hard to start

For about a year now my 06 FX35 will be hard to start. I will turn the ignition and the car will turn over, trying to start. I will continue for 3 or 4 seconds and then stop. After letting the car sit for a few minutes, it will start fine. Normally it will start instantly. It does this every 2 or 3 months. The other day it took me around 15 minutes for it to start. I would crank, let it sit and had to repeat it several times before it started. When it did, it started right up like normal. Battery is only 9 months old. Any ideas would be appreciated.

agreed - FP could be starting to go. Same failure mode in other cars. Problem with intermittent starting is diagnosis. Hard for a shop to recreate.

We just ran into this problem with our 04. It threw the P0340 code which is the camshaft position sensor bank 1, dealer replaced it and now no starting issues.
Not sure if this is what's happening to yours, however when it happened to my 02 Chevy 2500 it was definitely intermittent. Might want to look into it. Good luck!

Thanks for responses. No problems since post. Friend of mine said could be loss of fuel line pressure when it happens. He suggested turning ignition until fuel pump stops pumping, then crank???
