Hello,
I'm a newb to this Forum; excited to be here!

From your experiences, which one of the following is a better all-season tire: the Ventus rh06, or the Open Country ht?
I live in Seattle, max a couple of weeks snow, but plenty of rain/showers..

Thank you!

--03 FX45, 27k miles (likely original rs-a's still on them)

Wow, an original 2003 low mile 45, nice......The Ventus RH06 is a great all season - dry/rain/LIGHT snow for the FX (I miss mine dearly), the Paradas are also excellent. Both of these tires have been rated HIGHLY on FX's. The open countries have never been rated on iS so can't really say how they would perform.

Welcome to the forum, where in Seattle?

Thanks for the info guys! A coworker has an X5, and he loves his open country ht's (has an all-season pass to Snowq -said no problem in the snow). So I briefly read about them, 640A, +10k warranty than rh06's (dont feel that's really relevant though), dont appear unidirectional, but w/less load rating. They just dont look like they belong on FXs.
Need(ed) inputs before ordering them. I just cant help the awesome look of the rh06's!
@Logan: spec. in Burien. I lucked out on my 45, got it ~2.5yrs ago w/10.4k miles on it.

Welcome to IS! The Hankook RH06 is a very popular choice here and I thought I would toss a third tire into the mix here. The Yokohama Parada Spec is another great tire a lot of us FX'rs have. I had mine for just over 40K miles and they were a great tire too!

I know this thread is a little stale but I've had my RH06's for some time now and I have to say, they're horrible in the wet in terms of rear wheel traction. Enough so I wouldn't purchase them again. They also get pretty noisy as they wear and require more tire pressure due to softer sidewalls vs. the OEM Goodyears. They're decent in heavy rain when new. It tends to rain pretty damn hard here. I'll replace with something else next time.

Great to hear the Snow Q reference. Your location is one more reason fo us to hit the strip!!!!

Rho6's are a tight tire, not sure if its the added weight of the 45 but mine handled so well in everything....

Considering scrapping the Toyos and buying this week!

I agree. Once my RH06's starting to wear down, the steering wheel starting shaking quite a bit. Took it to the dealership, not thinking it was the tires. I was told the tread was too aggressive and should not purchase these tires again, since the same thing will happen after a while.

Have had 3 sets of RH06's, and haven't noticed any steering wheel shaking aside from warped rotors. Wouldn't be surprised if the dealership was just trying to sell you new tires. Too aggressive is funny, maybe they would recommend slicks?

I had 3 sets of RH06's -- 80,000 miles, 65,000 miles and 65,000 miles were when I tossed them I think.

They were awesome until about 50,000 miles and they got noisy and traction was starting to decrease, maybe 4/32nd of tread? But that's common from low thread. I was always happy at how easy they were to balance, silent (until 50,000 miles), rode like rails on rain, snow was no problem and thread wear was awesome for 420 A A rating.

Did I mention they were the cheapest tires except for Kumho's when I purchased?
