sweet, are those the dash lights where you just plug into the socket?
not a good idea again.
That's a horrible idea.
Just a quick note. I used these for volunteer ems response only. Did not in any way portray or impersonate or abuse these lights in any unlawfull manner. I used these lights and siren for emergency use in which i had a emt plate and required med bag and o2 tank equipped.
The lights are on the other side of the mirror. They are two led boards (red /blue). They are hardwired to switches. In the headlights, the daytime running lights were taken out and i installed shoe me high powered strobes with selectable flash patterns. In the rear window i have two led boards that flash red and white.
In the rear is my nys ems shield displaid at all times to let cops know.

You can obtain a certificate that says your vehicle is aproved by new york state for emergency medical use. There is a long check list of required equipment that has to be on board. NYS has to reinspect the vehicle before use. After passing you get a new york state ems inspection sticker on your windshield.
I quit being an emt because the pay is crabs. Became a mechanic working on emergency vehicles. I pretty much know whats involved to legitly use lights and sirens for emergencies.
Allot of people where i am are volunteer ems. They use anything from honda mini vans to piolts to camrys to tahoes to caravans to pretty much anything. Allot of them being hacidic jews. They don't trust fdny ems. They trust their own. I don't mean to disrespect anyones religion. That's how it is in my neighborhood. They even have their own police w/o guns. Im not trying to justify that lights and sirens are for everyone. There is the right lawful way of their use. Others ways is at your own risk. With proper documentation and certificates, you will be ok.

Technically you get some parking privelages also. Is that correct?
People need to calm down, geez. The mod was for fun. You can't condemn it because of what might happen if you abuse it. Especially since the guy does not even live in the US, which has the most restrictive car standards & laws to begin with. We can abuse all kinds of features on a car - but that doesn't mean there isn't a PERSONALLY justified reason for those features. In this case the owner's purpose is fun. The joy of doing an install yourself, making your car different... no need to slam it if you wouldn't make the same choice. In fact, there is no law stopping you from having police flashers on your car in the US - they are actually sold for, "off road use" which gets you around the legality of having them on your street car as long as you don't use them when not "off road".
The forum is all about support, guys. If he asked for advice then I'd say the hate mail was more justified but in this case - some of you guys are just being negative. I wish forum etiquette included a lot more of, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
