GTspec strut bar hood contact 06 fx35

I will be checking mine tonight. Just yesterday I noticed a hairline crack under the clearcoat in the paint on the top of my hood in that area hope this was not the cause.

Thanks Guys,
Once the bar makes contact for a while I am interested to see if the indentations are on the same place as mine. Is it hitting right around the fastener on the passenger side?

When I installed my bar, there is not a lot of play where the end plate attaches to the bolts. (an alignment of the end plate and bolts. The passenger side seems to be a little further out.) I'm wondering if slight variations on the locations of the holes in the end plates could make a difference.

Also take a look at your hood alignment to see if it looks right. without the stb installed my hood lines up with the fenders and lights, but with it in you can see the passenger side is slightly raised.
Also I can feel the tension on the hood, if I press down slightly on the hood, I can hear a creak from where the clamp holds it down. When I pop the hood you can hear that it is under tension. Without the stb there is some play on the hood that you can push down on it.

@raymond: If either the paint being thicker raised the mount slightly or if the paint shop removed and re installed the hood slightly differently, it could cause the impact to increase.

here is where mine is hitting.

To me, it did look like some tension but that seems odd too. I looked and there is actually room behind the insulation which would make me think logically that it would compress without stressing the hood. Going to look into it more.

I verified on mine and it flushes nicely with the liner of the hood, I also noticed the liner has some slight room to move, I pulled it a bit more towards the front and now I have a nice clearing on both sides. Try that?

Just checked mine and it also makes slight contact and one of the plastic clip buttons is missing at contact point.

Hey Lucki can you take a pic of your hood, I wonder if the design is any different.

I removed the button clip on mine to see if it would help. I think the main point the pressure is on is the stem of the button mount.

I took it for a nice ride along PCH and then all the way up to Mullholland on the windy Hollywood Hills and I actually liked how sturdy it felt on turns and bends. Not sure if it's in my head but I felt like it handled turns better

Totally!! Those tight turns now I feel like I actually can corner them with more control, the whole car just feels solid!:) And I used to have this weird "noise" coming from the front, since I put STB on, it magically disappeared, makes me happy :)

Yep! That how good the STB adds to the ride.
Good to hear that you got the STB on. So what did you use to get the stubborn nuts off the strut tower?

You got it. Hate to be sneaky but she does not understand the passion we have with cars and driving. Just like I don't understand about her jewelry making bead work although I do understand she has a good time doing it

I sprayed some penetrating oil and left it overnight, in the morning used the torch to heat up the bolts, hammered a few times and tried again, and they both gave in. Went ahead and bought new bolts. The whole process took less than 20 min!! Huge relief. No need for the bolt remover, thank G!;)
