ok, forget about using this rear bar with a stillen exhaust, it's not that the bar will touch the exhaust, the bar would intersect the exhaust is more like it....

the only way I can see to install this as-is is to modify the exhaust.. the exhaust is above the point of this bar a few inches foward of this spot... you would need to extend one side of the exhaust pipe & then shorten the other side of the pipe to the muffler, maybe slight curve work involved too if you don't want a sloppy butt connection on the pipe...

2 cuts, one extension & one shortening... not the biggest deal to do... I'd do it in stainless steel & tig welded.. the question is, is it really worth it?

honestly looking at the reinforcing points of this support & the clearances around the stillen, this bar would work better going over the left exhaust & under the right, following the sway bar path to be the straightest path & best support between these 2 points... if the existing bar was to be modified to fit the stillen by trying to extend the right side down too it would wind up looking like a u, not the most ridgid design...

best way to use this existing bar is to mod the exhaust...

Sorry to hear it won't work out for you turbo. Well, then again, you probably already modded the heck out of it to make it fit, light up, and self clean via your in-dash carputer.

Bummer on the fit. That's it . . can I say it? . . . Stillen sucks ballz!

That's what I'm afraid you'll say. Since I got the bars, I'm just going to stick with them and have the exhaust modified. I'll see if the exhaust shop has time this week, and I'll ask them to take some pictures from the mod.

Sorry about the fitment John, this is the reason why you offered your FX to test fit so things like this dont happen to you and Airvtec. PM sent.

maybe an early comment (I'm still in Turkey) but it looks like this might not fit my APS as well.. It's pretty similar to Stillen.. We'll see..

:frown::cry::sad::confused::puke::argh::heeeelllllooooo:

Mind you I had this same concern and It seems tha Viet said that this will work..

Here is the post that they responded to my questions about fitment..

I really don't kow how this is going to work out for me since I have a Dual Stillen Exhaust...

The GT Spec Bracing is good for the general FX layout of one single exhaust pipe to the muffler...

I will take Pierce for example

PIERCE - Nismo Exhaust
IMG_5604.jpg

Viet's Exhaust is similar to my Dual Exahust Layout...
GT_Spec_bars_06.jpg

I just don't know if it will work out for me. will have to mod my current Exhaust to get this mod done? Don't know if it will be really worth it..?

Here is my Layout....Not enough Space to bring the exhaust extention up to clear the brace...(I think)

Help..

Dude, yours is the easiest to do. It would not need to arch down to clear a pipe, you could go almost straight across.

Example.

You will not have any worries Humberto. Like Viet said, you will not even have to bend the lateral brace to clear the mid-pipe like the nismo guys.

Dunno man.

I'm sorry the lateral bar is having some fitment issues with Airvtec and turbocads exhausts. From those pictures especially the last one it looks like it would be fine.

I found these on my computer.

if you look at the right side pipe, at the point where this brace crosses, you'll see that the right side pipe at that point is just about as low as the left side pipe.... a few inches foward & it's higher, but at that point it's low...

the bar has a serious kick down on the left to clear the pipe, but on the right it goes straight up to the bolt... the right side pipe is almost as low as the left side pipe with the stillen though, so the bar intersects that r/s pipe... not just a litle, it wants to go right through it...

whats that upper brace:confused:... the one next to the airbag goodies they forgot to include in my package:wink:

we have a stock black brace there... maybe that's the stock one painted? that was my guess anyway, especially since the sway bar is also painted that blue too... I think..

Alright, just got back from the muffler shop. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it worked. He heated up the passenger side pipe and pinched it a bit. It gave enough clearance to install the bar. I was ready to have him redo a portion of the piping. He installed the tie bar also. The whole thing cost $40.

Turbocad6: from your description it sounds like we might have a difference in clearance issue. I was there watching the guy during the install. He installed the bar first to see the kind of adjustment needed. The bar did go on, but with a bit of force. It was pushing against the passenger side pipe, but it did go into the mounting points. From your threads it sounded like you need to make some serious adjustments. Perhaps you want to take another look. It might not be as bad. However, if I know how to work on the exhaust myself I probably try to redo the piping.

PICS or BAN! J/K. The right side looked to be pretty close to me. It almost seems as though the bars we modified had a slightly better angle for the Stillen exhaust.

 I'll be installing the other tie bar this Sunday. I'll take some pictures of the pinching that was done. If I had known he was going to install the bar, I would have brought the other bar with me, so both would have been done. I'll post the pics this weekend.

I didn't actually put it on, but it looked to me like it was way obvious that the bar would have sat into where the pipe is big time... I didn't consider denting the pipe really as I would think I'd want 1/2" of clearance between the bar & pipe, I woulda thought the pipe would need to be dented way to much for me really... maybe there are some differences in my exhaust to yours though.. I remember seeing pictures of berts stillen that the exhaust theyt sent me is a bit different, in that it was made to be taken apart more for shipping... maybe the exhausts they supply local are not the same as what they ship out? I know I was disapointed in how many diffferent pieces the exhaust was in & how many clamps it needed to be assembled & I didn't see some of these joints in berts exhaust. for example the tailpipes had clamps, the mid pipe broke apart into pieces that also needed clamps... I will weld the whole exhaust togeather eventually & do away with all the unecissary clamps...
