my hoses got here today and they do seem to have gotten here sooner than normal. I've never had UPS deliver anything from the other coast in 4 days or less. That is if they shipped last Friday. Adam was still asking me about the shipping address at 4pm EST last Friday.

UPS is great:top:, maybe they have less packages due to less people shipping ... due to the sucky economy

Exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks Kwame for getting with GTSpec to make these possible for us and for giving us timely updates.

for the guys who ordered the full front combo, the little gift from us was sent out in the mail, you should have it within a few days. West coast guys might get the gift before the braces, east coast guys will get the braces before the gift :)

Thanks again guys

i'm hoping to tackle this tomorrow, and really don't know what to expect. can anyone give me an advice, or know of anything i need to be aware of? in one photo there is a jack supporting some stuff, is that necessary?

most important thing, DON'T get under your fx without it supported well, DON'T get under it with just a jack holding it up, don't do this unless your sure of the stability of the raised fx, you will probably have to really pull to break some of the bolts loose & having the fx just tetering on a jack is suicide, if you don't have the right stuff to raise your fx & make it very stable don't do this... 2 jack stands would be the way to go... emergency brake on, level solid ground, etc...

No its not necessary, we only put the jack up there to take a photo since we didnt have the proper bolts the 1st time I was there.

According to Mark @ GT Spec, all the necessary hardware will be included with the braces but as I mentioned before, do not attempt to install these without the proper tools (i.e. air gun, compressor, A LIFT!!). Take a look @ it 1st and see what's involved and then it take it a professional, specially a pro who knows a little thing or 2 about alignment.

i have a friend that works at a tire shop so i can go get an alignment after i install it. i've done all my exhaust work, and i installed the rear bars combo in my driveway with ramps. i do have a compressor but i'm sure it can be done without them. i also have a friend who has done a lot of suspension work on his wrx and he'll be around to help out. is there any more info about these bolts that you guys are talking about? which ones need to be switched out and why?

Here's a previous post of the R&D we did @ GT Spec ..

Take a look @ the "rivet" on the 1st picture of that post, imagine trying to using a regular ratchet without an air gun.

This on the other hand maybe a DIY but you have to align the bolts correctly before and after you take it off which might make it a little tough without a lift.

ok cool. so i install this rivet with the brace in place right? in the video he just inserts it into the frame, but i would think you'd have to have the brace in place first.

no, it's not really a rivet, it's a nutsert, it goes into the frame & gets compressed like a rivet, then it leaves a threaded bolt hole to bolt the brace too. it can only go in the hole one way so you just compress it in there first...

ok cool. i just opened the package and had a look and it makes perfect sense. how do i know when the "nutsert" is properly compressed/install, and i can go ahead and install the mount?

it'll stop just like a rivet or tightening a bolt. if you don't make it tight enough it'll spin in there so it has to be snug...

put my stuff on today, well...tried too. The front went on with no problems. And for everyone planning on doing this i did not use an impact gun OR a lift. I did it with hand ratchets and ramps. I actually had an impact gun on hand, but opted for the hand tools so i could have better feel. long story short, no impact gun necessary for the front. i was unable to do the ladder brace, because i was not able to crack the nuts on the control arms. having a lift would have made it easy to actually get some leverage under there. the ladder brace is on hold for now until i can find access to a lift.

Glad to see some of you have received your braces, for those of you who haven't yet, they are on the way.

To everyone who participated thanks for helping us to make this happen.

just wanted to let everyone know that i received some more excellent customer service from Z1 today. when i put my nutsert/rivets in, i put one of the washers on wrong, so it fell off instead of staying on with the rivet. i emailed Z1 yesterday morning about a replacement, sent them $7.50 at about 3pm yesterday, and received my new nutsert today. INCREDIBLE. thanks for kicking some serious ass guys

Got the front braces today and also the gift last week.....thanks. :top: Haven't had a chance to open the box yet and don't even know when I'll get them installed.
