Hey! first post. My 03 FX35 AWD has been grinding on a cold start for about 5 months now. its only from a cold start and lasts for about 1 second. any ideas?

Welcome to IS! Maybe the serpentine belts are cracking or getting old? Check your oil level before the cold start?

welcome to ! I had a similar noise on cold starts for a while too! Then I starting doing 6 quart oil changes instead of 5 and it fixed it!(Tip from my Infiniti mechanic) Does it sound like maybe oil is all at the bottom of the motor and it takes a split second for it to flow through the motor to quiet the sound?

Low oil does seem like a possibility. And you are an '03, so maybe you're burning oil between changes. Have you checked the oil level?
