Hey there iS! I joined the forum a week ago and I've been loving reading up on all the vast material you guys have here. I've been a big part of the Audizine community for the past few years under the handle yoogene83 and look forward to being a part of this one as well

I would just like to shout-out to TurboCad6 and his fantastic build over on mp3car-forums that lead me over here. I've been itching to get into a 1st Gen FX ever since I unloaded my 3rd Gen 4runner to my sister last year; this was primarily due to my wife becoming pregnant with our first born back in May of last year, we gave the 4Runner to my sister and picked up a Sienna to handle our soccer mom/dad duties. I know, I know, shaggin wagon for the first born, but we are planning on at least 2-more mini-Yoo's, so we planned for the long run. I've managed to keep my A4 as my never-ending project car, and am looking forward to picking up an FX35 as a daily.

Reading the stickies posted here, I noticed that I can't post pictures until I reach a specific post count, so those will have to wait; I was able to post links to my individual builds in my sig, however, so if you'd like to check them out, please do! It's not to the level of TurboCad's fabrication, but has its share of ups and downs.

Sorry for the essay, I get long-winded when I'm excited about a new project :.smile:

welcome to the scene, Yoo! This is the best forum I've ever been a part of and while it's great you have a project car, modding the FX is just too much fun. You might end up with two project cars before you know it.

Thanks! The main reason i'm looking at the FX is so my wife can have a secondary vehicle she can drive if anything happens to the van. Not to mention it's always nice to have a back-up vehicle whenever the project goes down for major surgery :) It'll be nice to have the extra room, auto transmission and higher ride height again; especially for the times i have to take the kid anywhere.

The mods on these are looking more and more dangerous for my wallet, so I'm taking things slow. I'm going to try and enjoy the ride before I do anything to see where exactly I want to point my mods, but given that I LOVE the exhaust note on the VQ motor, I may leave the engine mods alone. I'm looking for reliability and stability because my A4 has become anything but. It should give me a chance to go full blown on the A4 though with a 2.0L built motor mated to a GT3071R and a proper interior swap with a S4.

As of now, I'm looking for an '08 FX35 with the Sport and Technology packages in 2wd; preferably in Diamond Graphite, but we'll see on that. Planned mods will probably entail wheels and HID fogs, but that's the extent that is planned....

Nice! Welcome to IS. I also have a B6 A4 (05) and a 1st gen FX35 (04). It's proven to be a pretty good combo for the wife and I so far. I opted to mod the FX though and have tried to leave the Audi as stock as I can handle.

Fo' real.......:frown:

To be honest I haven't had that many problems with the A4, but the FX has been utterly bulletproof. Literally not a single issue in almost 2 years of ownership.

P.S. Check this one out: ///8753

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Thanks for the link! Definetly a good read regarding the + and - of RWD vs AWD. My 4runner was a standard V6 RWD SR5 model, so i'm not too concerned about getting another RWD vehicle. Considering the weather I drive in (sunny 90% of the time with 10% showers), a RWD will be sufficient for my needs. Also helps to have less weight, less fuel consumption, and the ability to kick the rear out on rainy days are part of the benefits of RWD :)

My A4 has been great, but it's a lot of little things that need a watchful eye because of my mods. It could have been a great car from a reliability standpoint otherwise...just costs too much to maintain and mod.

Everyone I've spoken with regarding the FX reliability has said the same. It's gonna be nice to just drive and do routine oil changes/tire rotations/windshield wiper fluid intervals again

Welcome to iS! I'm waiting for your Audi thread to load all the pics so I can check that out.

Definitely read through that thread. It's awesome. Much respect to you, and to B6's.

thanks guys! it's a work in progress, but it's come a long way. It should stay in my garage as long as I can put up with it...or until I can pick up an R8!
