...just to clarify... are you getting a new FX35? Or looking to buy a used one?

IMHO... if you don't need AWD... just get RWD. If you're looking to buy used, try and find the ones with the sports package. the tech package is cool too. Look for fading on the door trimmings (if you're buying used), it's kinda in issue, if you're buying from an Infiniti dealership... and the door trimmings are fading/faded, make them replace it BEFORE you buy. 2003 models (1st year) is a stiffer ride... I believe it was fixed in the 04' models... (but it doesn't really matter, cuz hanging out around here, you're gonna eventually end up lowering it anyways :laugh: ).
 
I am thinking about getting 03 fx35 at the dealership. I had acura's before and had various problems. Is there any problems i need to be aware of? Another question, i was browsing and noticed in-dash for the fx, is this hard? Where do you guys buy the dash mount? Thanks for your help.
 
welcome to the scene. Since the in-dash head unit is also connected with other equipment in the car, you'd probably want to leave it alone. However, you can probably install an aftermarket head unit where the clock is(above the ashtray.) Most of the Super Mods, have had their console custom fabricated to fit aftermarket units. Some have just replaced the LCD's.

I decided to keep my audio equipment original and just add an Amp and Subs. In my case, it's plenty.

According to our "Mod Gods" it's not possible, unless you replace the entire unit. even so, you might have issues with the ECU.

You don't replace... you relocate. :biggrin:

There was some pretty hefty research into the CAN bus software side of things to see if you can get the information that would normally display on the stock screen to be applied to an aftermarket touch screen so that you can use the aftermarket screen as a headunit, DVD player, carputer, etc... but there weren't any solid results. Everybody who wanted something different in the stock screen area, or wanted another double-din, or a flip-out monitor have all either added this screen in the clock area or the stock screen area and relocated the stock screen to either the clock area or overhead right about where the sunglasses holder is.

Oh and there's no major issues I'm aware of that you'd be bringing the FX in lemon-style.

Welcome to :iS:.

I would recommend you buy an FX that has the NAV/DVD entertainment package along with sport package. this way you will have a color screen and a rear DVD. the sports package will include smoked front and rear lights along with other goodies.

05 and older you will have the older radio/nav buttons, 06-08 will have the newer buttons.

Not many problems at all (just do all the Recalls and service bulletins from dealer).

I also had a Honda Accord with all kinds of transmission problems, not so here.

Once you get the FX, you will fal in love.:top:

trainerken: i am still registered @ acurazine.com. i had acura cl-s but had so many transmission problem to a point where i just got rid of it.

I'm on my 3rd... but for now, its paid for and it's more fuel efficient than the FX45...

what's your user name at AZ? I'm "is300eater"... 10k+ posts and counting... I'm only in Ramblings/Off Topics tho
 
my sn @ acurazine is: socalicls. i was thinking about getting the 04 tl's but found out that it still has transmission problem. Don't get me wrong, i loved my CL-s when i got it but it is just unforunate to have such epidemic tranmission problem.

so guys over at v6performance did the 6sp swap. I was thinking about that , but it would end up costing as much as the car is worth:rofl:

well anyways ... FX all the way baby.
 
i was also thinking about 6sp swap but i reached my boiling point when i had to take in my cls 2nd time for transmission replacement.
 
hey welcome...... you will love the fx..... iam comin from 2003 acura tl juzz 1 month ago... i had too many tranny problems too so got rid of it at 118k miles .... and now iam relly happy with fx......iam also on acuazine sn acura tl 06
