GPS and Audio When Driving?

Hi all,

As currently setup in my stock (for all intents and purposes) '15 QX70, I lose the ability to enter an address in the GPS or select an audio device when moving more than ~5mph. The menu options turn a muted gray which cannot be selected. I understand Infiniti does not want individuals playing with the Nav system while driving, but it's frustrating when it's the passenger trying to use it. And with passenger seat sensors (airbag, seatbelts), you'd think this "lock out" could be limited to apply only when nobody is in that seat (if done originally from the factory, but I am not trying to get that complicated now).

Anyway, is there a way around this?

On my 2005 BMW, there are start up screens on the NAV which were annoying and I have those coded out, but that is a much older, simpler system.
I've also found the "enable video/audio" threads on here but that seems more geared towards TV streaming and whatnot.

Again, not trying to add any real features, I just want to be able to use the NAV/GPS/Audio system when the car is moving. Thanks!

I hadn't! Thanks for that. $230 is a bit steep, though. At least it's plug and play and reversible, but still expensive for the functionality gained.

The mirrors auto folding on lock/unlock would be cool too, but it seems like that is not part of this. If that were somehow part of it, I'd probably do it.

What's the camera function they are all talking about? My '15 has a camera button near the screen which will activate the bird's eye anytime.

I know there is a hack for the nav with cutting wires, but I can't seem to find it at the moment. No idea about the camera function. Perhaps Jonas will charm in on it.

Meh, I don't think I'll be cutting wires. I read some on that approach and not keen in on it.
And $230 to enable a function when driving is steep. I don't watch videos on that screen anyway so it's just entering a Nav destination (if not using the phone) or toggling audio sources (phones). I can live without this.
And no solution to lock/unlock auto side mirrors yet. Bummer!

Was hoping this stuff could just all be coded like it is on the BMW.

No need to cut wires, only unplug one of the wires in order to allow the camera to be on at any point.

What's funny is I never use the nav feature anymore...I use waze on my iphone, but I have the video going all the time...in fact sometimes have the nav from my phone on the screen instead since it's much nicer. Use it to stream pandora sometimes.

I have another device called kivic that allows you to airplay to this device. So just walk in the car, turn on the car, and on your phone start playing pandora (with albums and such on the screen), spotify, play youtube videos and you can see it / hear it all on the scream. Some people have google cast hookups and such. Lots of stuff on the web about all this stuff but I wouldn't be able to do any of it without this bypass.
