Getting tails and reflectors painted????

Location
San Diego
ok i found a place that will paint the tails and supposedly the reflectors for $250. that includes taking apart everything and doing the work, and putting it back together. they use a clear with black in it, and can make it as dark as i want. the guy said he could get the reflectors out, if he goes into the bumper, or removes it. i havent seen anyone paint these reflectors yet, because i heard you couldnt remove them. every thread ive seen, people tint them. is this a good, legit deal?

you can remove them its just kind of a pain lol...

that deal is ok just make sure they do a good amount of prep work and dont just spray it on.. aka take it to a reputable shop

yeah he said they dont sand it, they spray something on it that makes the paint stick to plastic. sound legit or no? they showed me an example and it looked alright i guess. did you get your reflectors tinted? does it look ok?

yeah I know what they are talking about, it s plastic-to-paint additive/adhesive. I had mine doen by john (turbocad6) and they DO sand it down to paint it...and my tails arent even 100 dark you can still see thorugh...its all about prep.

you can, however also do it that way

You can remove the rear reflectors with a flat screw driver. They just pop out. Pop it from the inside or center of the car side. They pop out pretty easy just dont force them.

The rear reflectors do not pop out, they need to be unscrewed from behind it will be very hard to do without removing the bumper.

I did mine body color ...Which I only recomend If you know you can get ticketed for that and not having rear reflectors can result in a collision, and still want to do it

there are 2 phillips screws behind the bumper holding the reflectors in. if you do remove the bumper & remove the screws & then don't put the screws back, THEN it can just be popped in & out in the future, which is what I would recommend, but the first time if it's all virginal & stuff then it is screwed from behind. if you don't reinstall the screws it still does clip into place securely & you won't loose them so leaving the screws out is ok really...

well than, now i'm starting to think mine was in an accident casue they popped out. Carfax came up clean when i bought it too...I offically hate dealers

If the guy painting know what there doing, u dont have to take the reflectors out.. They just have to be taped and masked off. As for your taillights... Just take them out yourself and have them paint them... Paying 250$ for these guys to use 5$ worth of paint is rediculous. Think about it. You wanna know how long it takes to take your taillight out? Less than 3 min. Learn ur car a bit it will save u some money... And def dont pay these guys that want to charge that much.

youre right

you know i think you are right. i found a place to do the tails for 100 and they would sand them too. as long as i brought them. then i guess i could just tint the reflectors? 250 seemed like a rip off to me, and they werent even going to sand them.
