Getting Rid of understeer? Better handling?

Jon, that's what we don't want for the forums. If you can't find wheat you're looking for, at the very least document your search here.

In terms of causing angst, I think you just need to realize that we're all here to help each other and even if there is not a "proven solution" we're going to throw out some ideas to try to help you in the right direction.

I've been in other car forums before and vendors chomping at the bit quickly becomes "Buy my shit and it will solve all your problems". I'm certainly glad that this forum does not fall into that category.

Run flats on sports cars are there mainly due to lack of vehicle space (no additional room for a spare), not a lot of race cars running SST's. In regular street cars it is a convenience/safety issue.

The bad - Run-flat reinforcements add weight. And it's all unsprung weight, the bad cholesterol of vehicle mass that degrades ride and handling. In SSTs, this amounts to a few pounds per tire. A single PAX (the other SST) assembly weighs in at 75 pounds, compared to 50 pounds for a standard wheel and tire. That's 25 pounds per corner, 100 pounds per car of added unsprung weight - Not good off the line OR in cornering, lighter is better.

Cliff note: Heavier or lighter wheels/tires - You go over a bump, the bump has to move the unsprung weight. your suspension then has to stop that unsprung weight, and rebound it. The less unsprung weight you have, the easier your suspension can stop the weight from moving up, and the easier it will be for it to rebound it, and keep your tires on the ground.

Something the higher end sports cars you listed have going for them is muscle and highly tuned suspension components - They can deal with the ill effects of run flats.

BTW - When I pulled the GTR rubber off my first set of wheels I was amazed how much they weighed, crazy......

you know, it's almost as if you antagonize with your posts just to draw out responses that you deem to be in angst, don't know if it's arrogance, ignorance or just something else.

even your pleading to god isn't going to change the fact that switching to run flats is not a performance enhancement. not even going to begin to type out why but you can go on believing what you will

it's almost as if you don't even read what you respond to, I pretty much said that there's nothing available but you could make it or have it made, I don't believe anything in my post to be offensive.

you respond with some bs about other enthusiast forums and make out like I'm saying you can't do it and make like every ones telling you not to do it, oh I'll just do it on my own, threaten to go else ware, then, in the next sentence you say

" I know enough people/engineers/vendors from my past cars, that I can inquire as to what some of these folks are able to do, even if its a one off just for me. Its not the prefered method, but I can do it. Perhaps even something like revalving the stock shocks could help (I know a guy who can do that)"

well, Jon, that is EXACTLY what I said... in angst apparently, but never the less... are you ok man?
