Nice, I'm actually headed up to Sonoma this weekend for a bike ride with a friend up there.

Heck, we weren't far from you Stu, too bad we couldn't have met up.

Yeah I didn't realize you were actually coming through here until now. I think I just assumed you were coming from the direction of Ontario to Tahoe. :disapointed:

We finished the drive across Nevada to Utah from Winnemucca, there is nothing on this drive except barren lands on mainly straight roads.
Once in Utah we were greeted with the mountains then the Salt Flats, we took the time to take the side road to The Bonneville Salt Flats where land speed records are made. This is unbelievable, you get completely disorientated, all you see is white for miles and miles. When you drive on the salt flats, your car, especially underneath gets caked with corrosive salt.

We travelled on by Salt Lake and Salt Lake City. We stopped for the night in a town called Orem just outside of Salt Lake City.

Thanks guys, we have spent the last couple of days in Utah at Bryce Canyon and driving Scenic Byway 12 to Torrey.These have been the most spectacular days out of our whole trip. The scenery and driving have been magnificent.


We just checked into a hotel and are having a Brewski then going for a swim. I will post a few pics later.

Looks like you weren't too far from Virgin, UT. There's a big mountain bike event there this weekend. Basically guys riding on those huge mountains in the middle of nowhere.

We have had trouble booking rooms at some hotels because they were booked solid, but we have lucked out with nice places. There was only one hotel we were not crazy about.
The hotel we stayed in last night was the Best Western Capital Reef Resort. we always try and book one with a pool and breakfast and of course a nice Jared. Here are a couple pics at our Hotel last night.
