[FONT=Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]YO - Some of us have tried the CREE Back up LED bulbs as DTRL lights in the front turn signal position. First attempts were bright and looked very nice BUT the bulbs were meant for intermittent use as back up bulbs and over a short period of time they would lose intensity and or burn out. JLC has been testing new CREE LED configurations for durabilty and they have dialed in a set that they say will take the strain of constant on use (as in a DTRL application)

My response and vid from JLC today -

Hey Lance,

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you on the pictures and videos.

We finally stabilized the DRL light to stay consistently on without having any burning out issue. Here is a link to the video.

Check it out and let me know your inputs. If you would like to put a group buy together with your forum guys and gals, let me know and I’ll work out a deal with you and my upper managers. Thanks!

PLEASE NOTE: The thread below indicates a group buy status that is ON HOLD while JLC processes returns from the initial shipments and further resolves CREE bulb quality control concerns. They are working on final tweaks BUT will now not release additional/new orders until all issues are resolved.

Oh yeah we all know sir21 wants one. He's been on your back, hehehe.

Wait, do these go in the turn signal, or the innermost bulb slot? Also, interested in price, because every "cree" item I could find was expensive.

If these are made as DTRL, I suspect it will be of bulb socket type 7443. That should not be a problem whether you did the "DTRL-Turn Signal Swap" DIY.

Yo Lance, any idea how much these gonna cost? Can't be more then $40 (I hope).

Ah wow, just realized turn signal and DTRL are basically the same so yeah.

I saw prices on JLC's website of $50, but on sale for $40.

Yup, if they're made as 7440 socket, which I doubt it would be. In any case, if they're 7440, it's easy enough just to move the contacts so it can be use as 7443 bulb.

Good to know they're no more then $40, at least via their sale.

Hey thanks for signing me up man. If theyre $40 on their site we should push for $35 for 10 bulbs or $30/set if we can get 15 ppl to buy.

Which bulbs are you referring to that burned out too quickly for the reverse lights? I need to buy a replacement set for my reverse lights.

The 7443's that then fit into the 7440 turn signal position. It's the DTRL/ turn signal swap Handy Andy had worked out.

Hey Dr, these are the bulbs we're talking about, ///197668&postcount=29.
They're meant to be use as reverse light. Last that I look they don't have them for our FX reverse light though.

Originally AeroBFA and I bought them to use as the DTRL after we swap the DTRL with the signal light location. The bulbs make it looks like a little projector on the outer round housing, the poor man version of John's Quad headlights. Since these bulbs were not design to be constantly on, they burn out too quickly. Lance got in contact with vendor and they redesigned to be use as DTRL now.

Lance, just sign me up for whatever it is I need! I'd also be interested in other types of bulbs if that applies/helps the deal go through. Maybe reverse also?

Ah I see, thanks for the info. I will have a look at their website to see what they have available for our reverse lights.
