Gas Mileage on FXs

I would be glad to switch my 04 BOSE tape decked super gas saver radio for your weak 08. I would have to ask you to add alot of cash, or your 21's, since you would be getting an extra 40mpg's. According to my testing, and Mtnfx confirmed with his pic, you would be getting 55-65 MPG and a range of 1200 miles! I don't understand Why Mtnfx's trip DTE only gives him a range of 425... Must be the orange screen is out of date like him and defaults to 425miles.

I heard using your tape deck overrides the ECUs tuning, setting it for ultra superconservative. Since anyone actually using the tape deck has got to be an old man/woman, Infiniti had the forethought of putting this feature into the earlier years so old people do not drive the FX too fast. What you might not now, is that there's a sensor in the FX making sure your wife's hair is of the correct color of blue......

:rotfl: You're a funny guy! I need to try it out. Lucky me, mine comes with tape deck from the factory. I'm good to go. Sorry you have to retrofit yours, aiya!

What's your secret?
reset the mileage before the 45 mile trip down the mountain

LOL yup I do make it too easy:tongue:
Oh and yes I was listening to a 70's mix tape because the crappy CD player was skipping again and I forgot to bring the FM Bluetooth transmitter to listen to Pandora or Slacker radio.

I've gotten 35.7 mpg on my way to school for about 5 miles. lol I was barely on the pedal keeping it at like 1500 rpm. I took a picture and everything but I can't post it because I am a newbie.

You have 11 posts pictures are in the immediate future! My mileage is all over the place, city driving, enjoy hearing the exhaust doesn't help either. It's a curse

I've got a 2010 FX35...I get 16-17 in town (5 miles to work nothing over 40mph 6-10 stoplights depending on route) and 23-24 on highway depending on speed. I didn't buy this for the gas mileage and enjoy the sound of the motor probably a bit too much!

Hi guys,

On my 2005 awd fx35, I get 15mph in town, 16mph on highway. I'm driving it quite cool, sometimes accelerating strongly when getting out of traffic or on the highway, then cruising at constant speed.

Not that impressive compared to my previous A4, but that's what one gets with a nice V6 and a heavier car :)

Running FX at 1500 RPM ???? Not fun at all..!!!!!!

haha yea don't worry I beat on her a bit at times just so she won't get spoiled and bratty! Here's the evidence for all the hybrid loving tree huggers out ther. It's the driver, not the car (sort of).

Just drove approximately 400 miles last weekend to Laughlin and averaged 20.8 mpg. I was driving 75- 80 mph most of the time.

Pulling into the casino 193 miles away, I still had a tick over half a tank.

That sounds about the same I get when I go to NY to visit family. Its about 210 miles from me and I drive between 70-85 and (probably about 120 when I get to that tunnel on rt 15 because it sounds so cool!!!!!) and end up with just a bit over and sometimes a bit under half a tank.

Not sure what changed. Certainly not the not driving style :smile (2): and I'm not tuck behind a huge semi!. For the last three days on my normal drive to/from work, my gas mileage went up from 21 mpg to 30 mpg. My normal drive to/from work on the highway is around 20 - 21 mpg at 65 - 70 mph. Aggressive driving above 80 mph and above, I would normally gets 17 -18 mpg.

I get the best gas mileage by using the Intelligent cruise control set to about 70 mph. I will average about 22-23 on the highway. Even more if going down hill, naturally. Not bad for a V8. I did change over to the small electrode iridium spark plugs which help a lot in increasing MPG in addition to using syn oil.:good:

I get that or better when I hit reset on the menu while driving on the highway with the cruise control set until I reach a few inclines.

 My 03 only has 47K miles now. Got luck out off ebay for $55 shipped off a week ago or so ago.

I hit reset right before I got on and the reading was after about 20 miles on the highway. The route doesn't have any big inclines. I drove the same route every morning. Those that around here would know. Nothing was done to the car for weeks.

Anyone know if the Torque app on phones has a mpg gauge via the PLX Devices Kiwi BT dongle? I have that in my car. I looked, butI can't find it. If there is mpg gauge on Torque app, it would be interesting to see what the reading is.

Nice, I just hit 47K two days ago. Great find and price on a tech cluster for $55 :eek.:

I'm consistently at 15.5 mpg average with a heavy foot and and a mix of about 60 highway/40city driving.

OMG my FX must be "broken" then LOL. I cannot go pass 12.3 MPG average. I have never seen it above 20. Even when on a freeway and on cruise it doesn't seem to get better mileage. If it's not my driving then is it possible that something in the car is "guzzling" gas like crazy? I even had someone else drive it, the person doesn't drive like me, and it came back with 11.7 average

Adam, did you hit the reset button when you got on the highway/freeway? 12.3 or 11.7 mpg must be your over all average.

I did. You know I will reset it again on Sunday when taking a trip down the coast. I know that V8 guzzles so a bit jelly over the V6s now :) Thanks Andy
