I think that sounds awesome too. There was that much drone where you took it off?

Absolutely no drone. I would say its not as loud as gen1. its pretty damn close to the gen1 when under load around 4500rpm. I love downshifting now just to listen to the beautiful tone.

that does not match the canadian parts number
the canadian number is this one B01001A37A and it goes for (1887.91 cad) wow
 
so after running the IPL for a few months I decided while it is louder at full throttle and at startup it was a bit to muted for me.

I had my oem muffler just sitting there so I thought I would open it up and remove the baffling inside. After I cut it open i found there is a 1.25" pipe inside and then a very slightly perferated 3" pipe that runs across the middle and connects to the tailpipe. I cut both of them to remove the significant restriction now to find a shop to weld it back up and see how it sounds.

some guys in the Maserati Forums did this to their cars and it opened up the sound significantly but did not introduce any drone, as opposed to going a straight pipe route.

hope to have it installed in a week or 2.
 
Before and after sound would have been good. But definitely post results!

When I had my 2nd gen FX35, I threw on an IPL axleback from a G37. The sound got a little louder and deeper but for paying $200 for the exhaust and install, I wouldn't go that route again
 
Finally took the muffler to have it welded back up. My local muffler shops did not want to mess with it due to how thin the metal is. I had to take it to a welding shop. Should have it in a few days/ week. Have pics of the baffling before and after I chopped it up. Will post them and a video once I install it...
 
Here is a quick video my son took today. The install was a father son project today with my 7 year old. He was excited to finish the job and wanted to be the camera man.

Overall I think this sounds nice. A bit louder that the IPL but no drone. Did about 80 miles on the highway tonight and it sounds good. Not to loud but you can tell the car has balls. Now when I accelerate I can hear the exhaust instead of the induction noise.

Let me know your thoughts.

WOW sounds really nice and clean... very similar to the 1st gen sound. :tup:
