G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

You should be able to buy the previous design, just lookup previous years. If someone with an older design needed a part, they're not going to buy everything to fix one thing. Check into it.

I have a friend that works for infiniti and he confirmed it. You can't buy the old knuckle anymore, so now you have to buy the new style knuckle and arm to go along with it. I looked into designing a adapter in Solidworks this weekend, but it is just not possible. The caliper would have to be clocked and moved in and the moving in process will cause interference between the caliper and knuckle. Looks like I will have to fork over the money for new knuckles and arms :(
 
09+ knuckles will work along with gen1 arms. I believe TC6 had looked into an "caliper adapter" once and ending with same results.
 
That's so strange.. So if someone had to change one side, they would have to change both sides to keep the car sitting right? That is if it changes the geometry...

Thanks man. I would like to talk to him sometime. He has done so much with the fx its incredible. I just bought an fx but I have had a g35 for years that I have done a bunch of work to. It is TT with a 4.0 stroked VQ and lots custom fabricated parts. I hang out on g35driver.com if anyone wants to check it out. I plan on making this fx my next project. Do you know if he was able to get the 7 speed tranny to work in his car?

I finally got around to do the retro fit on the front end today. I'm looking forward to testing them out. I can't wait, thanks Jeff.
 
Is yours the blue one? I saw the build thread and your name is familiar. That G is pretty crazy.

Yes. Thank you. I got everything installed and the brakes are so much better than stock.

Infiniti was wrong about needing the newer arms. When you go to order the newer rear knuckles they will tell you that you also need the newer arms because the ball joint location has changed. For this mod all you need to order is the knuckles.
