G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

Just got back from the local CNC shop. They shortened 4 banjo bolts for me. These came out perfect. Total cost was $30 for all 4. The nominal bolt length is now 16mm, instead of 20mm. Wasn't really comfortable drilling the bolts out myself.

was wondering if you can retrofit g37 brakes into a first gen fx, does that mean you can retrofit g37 BBK front and rears to a first gen fx the same way ?

Only the Akebobo calipers from the G. You'll need to get FX specific rotors for the rear.

but the calipers would bolt up with turbocad ball joint

All Akebono from the: FX50 / M56 / G37 / 370z have the same front and rear calipers (and pads). Rotors wise, the REAR of the sedan/coupes have smaller parking brake. Hence only FX50 rotors will only work. And yes, TC6 ball-joints and Gen2 rear knuckles are REQUIRED for 03-08 FX models.

Can anybody tell me what the latest and updated parts list is for this mod?
I have read through all pages but now i am in doubt what list to use.
Also since Infiniti/Nissan changed the part number of the knuckles i am completely lost :bulgy-eyes:
If everything goes well i will have a complete Akebono kit to fit to my 03 FX35.

Turbocad, you still sell these kits for the rear conversion?
If i get all the part numbers lined up i can start collecting them

Here is where my problem lies with my 2011 FX35!

I've run into a quandary with my e-brake / parking brake setup after upgrading my brake kit with the following:
http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...23&Car_Type=G37&UID=2012122116211866.249.73.5
(even though he states that "Works with original E-brake System", it doesn't.)

It's just my rear Centric rotors (13.8") that is causing the problem. The FX e-brake / parking brake assembly won't fit into the inside hub of this rotor.

I'd like to know a workaround for this to effectively get my e-brake / parking brake to fit into this rotor and working again. Would it be possible to use a smaller e-brake / parking brake assembly?

Thanks so much everyone, great thread!

He may have sent you the G rotors. The fronts are the same, but the rears are different. If you got the G/Z rotors, the parking brake won't work because the FX50 rear rotor has a bigger parking brake. Get him to send you the correct rotors, don't mess around with anything else. It's the vendor's fault for not knowing the difference.

turbocad6, I tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full. I would like to purchase the adapter kit if still available.

Please let me know if you have any left.

Thanks,
Dom

I'll shine my Turbocad6 Logo tonight, he should answer your call.

...on a serious note, I'll pass him the note and have him ping you directly OR if you are comfortable, fwd me the pm and I'll relay him the same TXT.

Thanks for the help soonster, please just ask him if he has any of the adapter kits left because I am interested in buying one. He can PM me directly.

I am also interested in the adapter kit if there are any left. I already installed the brakes before I came across this forum and everything bolted up, just the rear caliper is out too far so the pad is not on all of the rotor. From what I am reading here this is because I need a gen2 knuckle. Is that correct? So what it looks like to me all I need is turbocad6 adapter kit and a gen2 knuckle and my rears will be good?
Thanks.

Well guys infiniti changed the knuckle, so you can't just buy the knuckle anymore to install these brakes on the rear. The bushing on the new knuckle is in a different location, so you have to buy the arm and the knuckle to make the brakes work and that is $350 per side. I don't feel like spending $700 to make the brakes work so I'm going to design my own adapter and see how much it will cost to get machined.

This thread reminds me of how great a mod this was. A bit costly, but a lot more bite, and a ton better looking.
