G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

that's another advantage of paint, don't have to dissasemble. before deciding to take them apart & powdercoat try to get your hands on replacement piston seals to rebuild it & make sure to not damage, mark or mar the flat mating surfaces at all throughout the whole process while there apart, any damage at all to these mating surfaces & it'll leak. doubt there are o rings in there between the 2 caliper halves, probably just surface to surface seal which is why they need to remain flawlessly flat & smooth on the mating surfaces... powdercoating can do more harm than good if not done carefully, increasing the chance of problems after. paint is def safer & retain the factory assembly

that's a really cool pdf man, thanks for putting that togeather :)

Hi

I have an 2008 EX 35 and want to upgrade the BBK from the G37.

Anyone know if it will fit the EX? I emailed riverside infiniti and they said it will fit.

I am running 20's right now and will have 18's with 10mm spacers in winter.

Please help. Thanks!~:wink (2):

I think you should check with Infiniti to see if both G37 BBK and the EX35 share the same part numbers in the caliper and rotor. If so, then they should fit.

Revised the instructions to fix a few things. If anybody finds any other errors please let me know and I'll fix them.

In the pdf, the House Rear Axle - Left and Right the unit and total pricing don't match up. Just noticed. :wink (2):

Also one question just out of curiosity, since the G37 BBK front is the direct bolt on and the rear just needs to change those parts listed in the pdf for the first gen FX, does that mean all other aftermarket BBK eg, like stoptech 6 piston front with 380mm rotor will fit the first gen FX without much of the issue if there is enough clearance for it (since those aftermarket BBK are direct bolt on to G37 as well with adapter).

After a long search for the rear aftermarket rotor for this BBK setup.

I have talked to John (national sales manager at powerslot). They have rear rotor available for the FX50 and FX50S and should be available in both slotted and drilled / slotted. So another aftermarket option for the Akebono BBK. :wink (2):

The drilled/slotted rotors can be ordered with special option.

Here is the part number from Powerslot:

The rear for a 2009 FX 50 are 126.42105SL and SR. The fronts are 126.42100SL and SR. Powerslot also has a great new pad (StopTech Street Performance) that is very quiet and low dust. The number is 309.13460 (front) and 309.13470 (rear). Stoptech = Powerslot.

I have requested the local distributor to contact Powerslot for a price quote. According to the distributor, the prefix in the part number 126 = slotted and 127 = drilled & slotted.

there are generic, no-name, drilled/slotted rotors on ebay too for the FX50. Just throwing that out there.

What is this "INF D1080-JL00A / Disc Brake kit" for? I didn't see that on the pdf. But it seems to be part of the rotor, but the pdf already has the rotor. I do not plan to order the oem rotors & pads, I will be using the aftermarket ones. Do I still need to order this kit for the front and the hardware kit for the rear?

D1080-JL00A is the front hardware/shim kit for the brake pads. you may or may not need depending on the aftermarket pads you go with, alot of aftermarket pads come with shims.

I fixed the typos in the PDF and added the wheel clearance template but I'm not sure how to update the sticky version at the front of this post. If someone could update it with the newest PDF I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

just ordered some premium CD/S Rotors from Rich at Rotorpros for $220 (front) and Posi Quiet pads $50 (shipped). He mentioned that the StopTech pads were like $30-50 more. He gets them from Centrics
